Job Overview:
The Associate Structural Engineer is responsible for performing routine assignments with guidance and supervision from others within the team, and leveraging their knowledge in the production of structural shop drawing, and solving standard problems using existing procedures.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Review and approve accurate and detailed structural shop drawings using 2D/3D CAD and/or other detailing software for fabrication.
- Raise Site Query Sheets (SQS) related to design drawings (e.g., clashes in design models/drawings, discrepancies, or requests for clarification with design engineering).
- Provide input on shop drawing progress.
- Collaborate closely with production engineers, shop engineers, PMT, design engineers, and other detailing engineers in developing structural shop drawings, ensuring compliance with design drawings, specifications, and fabrication requirements.
- Coordinate with the lead engineer to resolve technical issues.
- Prepare revisions/change orders for any work performed outside the original scope.
- Prepare weight change reports.
- Conduct regular self-inspections and quality checks to verify adherence to design drawings and codes.
- Review and approve red-line markup drawings for as-built documentation.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to drafting and design.
- Contribute improvement initiatives or innovative solutions to enhance productivity, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness within the department.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in offshore or ocean engineering, naval architecture, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Fresh graduates or candidates with zero to three (0–3) years of experience in the oil and gas industry—especially those with fabrication or drafting engineering experience—will be considered an advantage.
- Eager to learn and grow professionally.
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes related to drafting.
- Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication in English.
- Good teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with the drafting team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills in resolving challenges related to drawing development.
- Proactive, willing to learn, and committed to delivering high performance while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.
