The Role

As an Technical Consultant I, Environmental Scientist with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc…. This is a role in Worley’s Western Australian Environment and Geomatics Team to support the growth of our Technical Studies Environmental business. The role will be to operate at a Graduate Environmental Consultant / Environmental Consultant (i.e. Junior) level in air quality impact assessments, noise impact assessments, light impact assessments, and general environmental impact assessment / management, across all sectors. This role will support delivery of technical work, including participating in fieldwork programs and execution of impact modelling assessments.  As the Onshore Approvals team grows we anticipate opportunities for the Environmental Consultant to support this team in addition to the Technical Studies team.

-         Begin engaging in knowledge transfer within the E&G team to increase the internal capacity to deliver technical studies (air quality, noise and light).

-         Support preparation of proposals for clients.

-         Conducting or contributing to appropriate studies, analysis and recommendations.

-         Identifying project opportunities in the environmental field of work.

-         Participating in relevant meetings, assist with preparing progress reports and follow required checking procedures.

-         Assist with the preparation of environmental documentation.

  •   Become familiar with Federal, State and Local government environmental assessment processes relevant to study    disciplines.

  •  Identify issues and problems; develop appropriate and innovative solutions and ask for assistance if required.

  •   Demonstrate a visible and active commitment to achieving the LifeTM (Health Safety and Environment) Vision and its associated requirements.

  •   Act in the best interests of Worley and the Worley Group at all times.

  •   Perform any other duties that are reasonably required from time to time.

  •   Demonstrate a visible and active commitment to personal wellbeing and healthy and safe workplaces and activities.

  •   Contribute to the continuous improvement of Worley’s health, safety and environmental performance.

About You

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:

·         Technical and practical experience in the environmental field desirable.

·         A recognised Environmental Engineering or Science degree, or equivalent.

·         Entry level role in the environmental field.

·         Experience performing field work in an environmental discipline desirable, ideally air, noise or light.

·         Willingness and ability to consistently meet Worley and its clients’ needs.

·         An understanding of WA and Commonwealth approvals processes.

·         Solid foundation of report writing skills for environmental assignments.

·         Emerging knowledge of the fundamental requirements of environmental impact assessments.

·         Good technical skills and under supervision deliver quality, accurate and timely environmental assignments to clients.

·         Competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and discipline specific software.

·         Willing to learn the use of specific modelling software packages:

·         AERMOD View

·         CALPUFF View

·         SoundPLAN

·         ILLUMINA Model

·         SQC Camera interface

·         Additional software packages that proficiency is desirable:

·         Python

·         R

·         Surfer

·         GIS

·         AI packages

·         Other data processing software packages

·         Proactive, goal oriented with excellent attention to detail.
