Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer with a specialty in power systems to join our Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation (MEI) team in our Vancouver, Canada, office. This role will work on both large and small projects locally, domestically and internationally preparing plans, designs and plan production for general electrical engineering on a wide variety of projects which may include lighting, power distribution, and grounding plans, one-line diagrams, panel and cable schedules, and different project specifications. Projects include electrical infrastructure for ports, waterfronts, industrial, commercial, government and military facilities. You will work with an international MEI team and Senior Engineers around the company through our intraoffice staff utilization program. You will support projects both on the job site as well as in the office.

Duties And Responsibilities:

- Completes multiple or complex electrical designs to support firm-wide projects by working with Project Managers (any discipline) and electrical teammates
- Perform electrical calculations, design drawings, and project specifications using latest engineering practices and code requirements

- Prepare detailed contract documents and studies
- Prepare construction and procurement type specifications
- Prepare electrical material take-offs, cost estimates and project schedule estimates
- Perform construction administration support and inspections
- Perform electrical equipment procurement support and factory inspections
- Assist in company-wide QA/QC process
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; required
- 4 to 8 years of related design experience; required
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in British Columbia; required
- Membership in IEEE; preferred
- Pole detail and overhead power distribution design experience; preferred
- Medium voltage power distribution design experience; preferred
- Substation and transmission power design experience; preferred
- Working experience or knowledge of power generation (standby or prime) and transfer switches; preferred
- Underground duct bank and vault experience; preferred
- Outdoor area lighting design experience: preferred
- Utilities experience; preferred
- Work experience in electrical trade is considered beneficial for practical knowledge development
- Software requirements:
- AutoCAD; required
- Proficiency in ETAP, SKM or EasyPower; preferred
- Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu; preferred
- Strong knowledge of CSA CEC; required
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
- Availability and willingness to travel
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
- AutoCAD; required

Working Conditions:
Most of time will be spent in an office setting, while other times will be spent at worksites. May have to work at project sites and around live electrical equipment and systems.
Base Salary Range:
$110,000 to $150,000 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.
Base salary range is only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Vancouver, BC, market.
