What We Are Looking For:

We are looking to fill an open vacancy for a legal assistant to support a team of Corporate Commercial lawyers. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, will be organized, and have strong attention to detail. In order to be successful in this role, you must have a drive to succeed, resourceful and diligent in completing your work with accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage and organize the daily operation of a busy Corporate Commercial practice for three lawyers
  • Handle all administrative details with respect to accounting, expenses, opening and closing files, docketing, billing, etc.
  • Assist with preparation, drafting, editing and finalizing all documents relating to corporate transactions
  • Proofreading and checking all documents
  • Diarize and track deadlines
  • Produce the highest quality of work
  • Accountable for all work assigned
  • Take initiative
  • Confidential

Requirements:

  • Minimum three years’ legal experience within Corporate law
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant and/or Law Clerk program
  • Handle time pressure and stress of multiple demands

Skills:

  • Microsoft 365 suite of applications
  • Strong technical skills with creating, numbering, styling and rebuilding documents
  • Knowledge of Workshare Compare or a similar document comparison program
  • Familiarity with iManage or a document management system  and DocuSign would be an asset
  • Strong proofreading, spelling and grammar skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Good judgement and decision making
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Detailed
