Job Summary
The Financial Controller will oversee the day-to-day finance and financial reporting activities while maintaining robust financial controls for the Barings Australia groups. The individual will work closely with the wider regional APAC and global finance teams. To support the growth of the businesses including asset backed finance, private credit and real estate in Australia, the candidate will need to collaborate with cross functional stakeholders and teams and external service providers including auditors and tax advisers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee month end and year end book closing activities under both local statutory and USGAAP requirements.
- Oversee management fee and performance fee calculations and billing.
- Work closely with procurement team and manage expense payments, T&E and fund expense recharges.
- Manage operating capital and financial resources under the AFS licenses.
- Manage corporate tax reporting including corporate income tax, GST, FBT, transfer pricing and country-by-country reporting with external tax advisers.
- Coordinate with tax advisers on investment fund products from time to time.
- Prepare board and management reporting packs.
- Assist FP&A team on forecasting.
- Work with HR and payroll team on payroll related activities.
- Manage statutory and AFSL audits with external auditors.
- Maintain banking activities and relationships.
- Manage a small team.
- Work closely with stakeholders on new initiatives such as new product launches.
Qualifications
- Accounting qualification required
- 10+ years of experience in financial services and/or asset management industry
- Be both hands on contributor as well as team player and people manager.
- Working knowledge of Australia tax rules and regulations
- Working knowledge of AFSL financial resources rules
- Worked in a multinational corporate environment
- Experience in asset management industry
- Application skills including Workday, Concur, PowerBI & Excel.
