Job Summary – IDD Compliance Officer
 

Salary: $63,000–$65,000 | Hybrid Role with Statewide Travel

We are seeking a detail-oriented IDD Compliance Officer to ensure our programs meet all regulatory standards and maintain the highest levels of quality and accountability.

In this pivotal role, you’ll collaborate with leadership and program staff to strengthen compliance systems, conduct internal audits, provide training, and champion ethical practices across our service network. The Compliance Officer ensures that the IDD program operates in full alignment with federal, state, and local regulations, including those set forth by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and other governing bodies. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring internal compliance systems, maintaining document tracing, and fostering a culture of ethical practice and accountability across all service areas. The position is hybrid, with a requirement to conduct routine site visits related to compliance reviews.

Essential Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure organizational policies and procedures reflect current compliance standards.
  • Maintain all IDD Program Policies in an accessible format for staff access.
  • Serve as liaison between program leadership and QA Department.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to integrate compliance into operational workflows.
  • Maintain documentation of compliance activities and corrective actions.
  • Work with program QIDPs to track PCP dates and take the lead in notifications to ISC organizations regarding overdue plans.
  • Serve as resource for QIDPs, providing guidance and support related to documentation.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new QIDPs related to documentation compliance.
  • Conduct regular internal audits of clinical documentation and facility compliance.
  • Track and report compliance metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Identify and assess compliance risks across the IDD program.
  • Recommend and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Lead root cause analyses and follow-up on corrective action plans.
  • This position requires travel to various program sites across the state to conduct compliance reviews.

Requirements

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • QIDP qualified
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in IDD field
  • Strong knowledge of IDHS regulations and HCBS waiver requirements.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and integrity.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Ability to create and maintain a client database
  • Experience with HRIS systems for tracking compliance and documentation
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and compliance tracking systems preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
