General Description And Classification Standards:

Captures events in photographic and video medium for use in collateral materials to promote Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), and to augment various reports to management, City of Atlanta Administration and the Atlanta City Council. Engaging a full-time photographer/videographer is the most cost-effective manner to respond to the high-volume of activities and need of the Department of Aviation (DOA) and throughout ATL.

Supervision Received:

Works under very general supervision. Reports directly to the Marketing Division – Creative Services Manager.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.

  • Provides video and photographic services as required for various DOA functions and events. 
  • Analyzes and determines photo/video requirements for projects as outlined by the Director of Marketing and Creative Services Manager to produce compelling photos and videos in support of the initiatives. 
  • Manages, maintains and facilitates the use of the DOA public address (PA) sound system. 
  • Captures, catalogs, and maintains an archive of current and past airport photographs and videos. 
  • Coordinates with internal divisions within DOA and the City of Atlanta to remain abreast of new developments (ex: construction, local events directly impacting ATL). 
  • Works directly with the creative services staff to capture necessary photographs and videos to incorporate into promotional materials and reports. 
  • Applies advanced photo and video production knowledge as well as advanced techniques for each genre to produce professional photographs and broadcast quality video programming for the promotion of ATL. 
  • Directs and produces complex promotional materials including broadcast quality video programs, computer-generated graphics for video and media promoting airport activities and services. 
  • Operates and maintains video and photographic equipment; including photo and/or video cameras, lenses, tripods, lighting gear, sound recording equipment, computer editing station, and digital storage equipment. 
  • Operates portable live units when shooting live remote.
  • Coordinates, produces and leads all DOA studio and on/off location video photo projects. 
  • Manages and orchestrates projects that require assistance from contracted vendors to supply DOA with additional video/photographic production services. 
  • Evaluates and interprets photo/video unit needs; assesses unit equipment requirements and submits recommendations for improvement. 
  • Operates a broadcast grade multi-source video editing system, special effects, digital effects generators, video graphics and titling systems, and audio enhancing systems to produce broadcast quality programming. 
  • Selects footage, photos and transitions effects either independently or in cooperation with Marketing Director and/or the Creative Services Manager. 
  • Serves as director and/or videographer for studio and location production as required.
  • Works with and directs talent as required for photo and/or video projects. 
  • Upholds a strict level of quality control in maintaining the corporate identity of DOA and its divisions as well as that of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport through photo and video production. 
  • Works in conjunction with the DOA Director of Communications and appointed staff to maintain the ATL social media pages/sites. 
  • Trains and supervises assigned planning, technical, or professional staff as directed.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Software such as: Final Cut Pro, Adobe: Premier, After Affects, Encoder, Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Microsoft Office products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal relationship and communication skills. 
  • Ability to demonstrate keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to self-audit work.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience – Bachelor’s degree in related field; eight (8) or more years experience in commercial photography, videography, video editing, or related field.

Licensures and Certifications – None required.

Preferred Requirements – Master’s degree or equivalent post-graduate education.

Required physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are requirements to perform the job successfully. Typical environmental conditions associated with job.

Lifting Requirements:

Medium work:  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
