Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, responsible for the maintenance of an upscale luxury hotel, hotel laundry and casino operations including supervision of Facilities staff and coordination of contractors related to Facilities operations. 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Manage supervisors, staff members in all trades and in all areas of hotel and casino operations to include: scheduling staff, repairs, preventive maintenance and ordering parts and supplies; maintaining, assigning and tracking work orders, responding to building emergencies and coordinating contractors.
  • Attend a variety of organizational meetings as directed. Ensure a daily shift meeting is held with staff to discuss daily events, current work objectives and encourage feedback on facilities operations. Attend bi-weekly Facilities management meetings discussing utility/building issues, concerns and where assistance is needed from other Facilities divisions.
  • Responsible for the hiring of new applicants including screening applicants, conducting interviews and hiring.
  • Ensure assigned facilities are maintained to meet or exceed the original décor and elegance of the property by maintaining an upscale, luxury level facility.
  • Ensure all work is documented by staff through the computerized work order system including maintaining the preventative maintenance programs for equipment/hotel room schedules.
  • Coordinate outside contractors for service agreements such as fire alarm systems, elevator maintenance, window washing, boiler/chiller systems and pest control services.
  • Coordinate other contractors for repairs to equipment, building systems and building components.
  • Maintain knowledge and experience in computerized door lock systems and in master key control systems. Coordinate repair activities, train staff in repair procedures and lock problems as identified by hotel guests.
  • Maintain elevators, boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, fire alarms, fire sprinklers and specialty fire systems; coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs by working with contractors and interacting with the Security department when system deficiencies are identified.
  • Coordinate pest control issues with contractor by working with Hotel operations or other supporting departments as issues arise related to pest management control practices in respective areas.
  • Manage work of assigned staff including review of repair parts, project materials, coordination of work with impacted departments and scheduling to minimize impact on guests and department operations.
  • Ensure associate adherence and training for safety polices including but not limited to eye, ear protection, confined space, lockout and tagout, MSDS, air quality, fire system impairment, hot work permits and equipment operation.
  • Maintain list of uncompleted work requests in each respective work discipline.
  • Monitor staff job performance, improve morale of department personnel and ensure the fair treatment of all employees.
  • Maintain a safe environment for employees and guests.
  • Must consistently practice SECR Hospitality Rules with every internal and external guest.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose Of Contacts:

  • Contact with all SECR departments to coordinate building repairs and issues as they arise or are requested.
  • Contact with hotel guests on Facilities related room issues to uphold service excellence standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor`s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or related field and four years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a Maintenance/Facilities/Central Plant or similar technical field or 10 total years of experience in a Maintenance/Facilities/Central Plant department of which at least four years must be in a supervisory position.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.

License, Certification, Or Special Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Michigan Driver`s License and must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Driver`s License and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier.
  • Native American preference shall apply to all positions.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Knowledge of applicable Tribal, federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, practices and equipment used in building cleaning, maintenance, and repair
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards, safe working practices, and safety precautions in accordance with applicable state, county, or federal laws and regulations regarding workplace safety.
  • Skill in the use of cleaning tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants.
  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Skill in managing budgets.
  • Skill in managing multiple projects and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Skill in supervising, training, and evaluating assigned staff.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.
  • Ability to learn the methods of cleaning and caring for buildings, grounds, central plant, and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to travel to multiple worksites and have flexible working hours based on project deadlines and emergency situations.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer and repair equipment.
  • Required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and reach with arms and hands.
  • Requires long hours of standing, stooping, bending, and climbing.
  • Occasionally sit, balance, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Normal office environment and construction sites.
  • Exposure to dirt and dust from project work areas; wet and damp areas; cramped and close work areas; and working around operating equipment with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic hazards requiring usage of safe work practices.
  • Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions including extreme hot/cold and to lift, carry, push, or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials
  • Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Frequent walking or standing in a smoking environment and contact with the general public. Constant visual stimulation via neon lights on slot machines, repeatedly changing machine video screens, static or flashing signs throughout the casino and constant machine and crowd noise
