Job Description
Role Overview
Intelerad is seeking a Platform Architect II to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our cloud-native platform infrastructure. This role combines deep technical expertise with architectural leadership to establish platform standards, create tooling that accelerates development teams, and drive operational excellence across our public cloud environments. The Platform Architect II will mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and take ownership of service reliability, performance, and cost optimization while advancing internal developer platform capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement resilient, scalable platform architecture using cloud-native patterns, establishing technical best practices and standards for infrastructure systems across the organization.
- Create and maintain tooling and automation that improves efficiency, velocity, and developer experience for engineering teams throughout the organization, including contributions to internal developer portals.
- Lead platform optimization initiatives focused on performance, cost efficiency, and reliability, leveraging public cloud services and infrastructure-as-code principles.
- Establish and enforce platform standards by reviewing architecture proposals, providing technical guidance, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Mentor platform and infrastructure engineers, fostering technical growth and operational excellence while contributing to hiring, onboarding processes, and documentation improvements.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure architecture, or equivalent roles
- Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud-native architecture patterns
- Strong proficiency with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or equivalent
- Proficiency in at least one backend or scripting language (e.g., Go, Python, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience designing and operating production systems with defined SLAs, including scaling challenges and performance optimization
- Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and developer tooling
- Experience with observability, monitoring, and incident management practices
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills with the ability to influence technical direction
Preferred Qualifications & Special Requirements
- Experience with internal developer portals (e.g., Backstage, Port, or equivalent platforms)
- Background in service mesh technologies, API gateway architectures, or platform security
- Familiarity with cost optimization strategies and FinOps practices in public cloud environments
- Experience contributing to open-source projects or community-driven tooling
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks and security best practices for healthcare or regulated industries
- Participation in on-call rotation to support production platform services
- Ability to work collaboratively across distributed teams and time zones
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel may be required for client engagements or data center visits
