Lead Systems Test Engineer

The Lead Systems Test Engineer will design, develop, and implement cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment for all phases of product development and manufacturing. You will continually strive to understand how complex hardware/software systems operate and leads the way in improving them and prepare test and diagnostic programs, design test fixtures and equipment, and complete test protocols and procedures for new and existing products. In addition, you will plan and manage schedules and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. 

The Lead Systems Test Engineer will have a full understanding of systems, embedded software, application software, and hardware testing and resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways. You will use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues. This individual determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel. This role is based out of Newark, DE and will require onsite presence. 

What You Can Expect:

  • Work closely with other test engineers, hardware/software developers and architects to develop an expert level of understanding of our products and their use in clinical practice to design, develop and test our next generation diagnostic systems. Promotes and contributes to the development of product knowledge throughout the organization. 
  • Act as the technical expert and acts as lead for assigned products and subsystems. 
  • Own and lead the design and implementation of test hardware and software to create and maintain functional test fixtures and equipment. Define requirements, develop, and implement test fixtures/equipment and corresponding specifications and procedures. 
  • Identify, diagnose, prioritize, and correct of technical issues. Implement and track solid corrective actions to reduce defects and failures or optimize and streamline testing processes. Ensure on time delivery of work products.
  • Review system level documentation (HRS, SRS, etc) to ensure that all safety, functional and third-party requirements are captured during system level test. 
  • Participate in design reviews, create test plans, define test requirements, develop test specifications, and define user interface requirements for test equipment as it relates to new product introduction. 
  • Function in a technical leadership role and can effectively coordinate and lead activities and support personnel to meet project objectives. Drive continuous investigation and development of potential product improvements and insists on the highest levels of product quality.
  • Provide regular communication and updates on success factors such as progress, schedule, budget, project risks and resource or needs gaps. 
  • Technical lead interfacing with Product Management and Domain Experts to identify product improvements and influence quality and testability of new product features.
  • Maintain strong network and relationships with Design Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Affairs, Clinical Applications, and other functional partners. Lead collaborative efforts and the building of interorganizational networks. 
  • Identify and drive organizational improvements and implementation of best practices in software, hardware, and systems testing.
  • Participate in professional development and stays current with new test technology and processes while actively seeking to implement new technology into new and existing design verification & validation activities. 
  • Guide and mentor peers to promote learning, development, and knowledge transfer.

What We Expect:

  • In-depth experience in testing functional, design and interface aspects of a commercial product at the board, sub-system, and system level
  • Experienced in supporting medical device manufacturing and applicable government regulations such as FDA, FAA, SEC, etc.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of operating systems (including real-time) embedded and application software, hardware, testing equipment and systems testing best practices. 
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical drawings, schematics, and circuit diagrams to identify control signals and processor inputs.
  • Exceptional working knowledge of test automation and its application in software and hardware environments
  • Excellent knowledge of electronics, electro-mechanical equipment, controls design, soldering and PCB design programming and testing, analog and digital electronics, and sensors
  • Proficient in abilities with and ability to train others in the use of technical equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Adapts communication style to suit different audiences Creates precise, accurate technical documentation. Able to facilitate group discussions.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple large-scale projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills- Ability to lead and motivate a team; Collaborate cross functionally; Efficiently direct and coordinate the work of others.
  • Preferred Minimum Technical/Advanced Degree.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $119,300 to $186,600 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
