Description

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for executing day-to-day inventory control activities to ensure accurate inventory records, timely discrepancy resolution, and adherence to established company procedures. This role is task-oriented and operational with limited oversight in nature, focusing on following defined processes, supporting branch and manufacturing locations, and escalating issues when necessary. The Specialist reports to the Inventory Control Manager and collaborates with the other departments to maintain inventory integrity and operational continuity. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Review and post daily cycle counts in accordance with established procedures.
  • Accurately document inventory discrepancies, shortages, overages, and variances.
  • Research routine inventory issues and escalate complex or high-risk variances to Inventory Control Manager for review.
  • Submit, track, and follow up on truck discrepancies within required timeframes.
  • Conduct routine and spot inventory audits to verify physical inventory against system quantities.
  • Assist with physical inventories and recounts as directed.
  • Ensure inventory transactions are completed timely and in compliance with company standards.
  • Support manufacturing and branch operations by completing assigned inventory control tasks.
  • Communicate clearly with branches, manufacturing, and internal teams regarding inventory issues and updated procedures, if applicable.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation related to inventory activities.
  • Provide branch support as needed, including limited travel (ranging from 25-35%) when required.
  • Perform other inventory-related duties as assigned by Inventory Control Manager.
  • Work independently while making impactful decisions that ensure continuous operations. 
  • Follow established inventory control procedures and standard operating guidelines.
  • Adhere to departmental service level expectations for email and ticket responses.
  • Complete assigned tasks accurately and within defined timelines.
  • Escalate unresolved discrepancies or process issues appropriately.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Inventory Control Manager and branch point of contacts and provide reliable assistance to manufacturing operations and branch support, including travel when necessary.
  • Support operational needs during audits, physical inventories, and peak periods.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and accountability in all inventory transactions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Cycle Count Accuracy: Accurate completion and posting of assigned cycle counts.
  • Timely Discrepancy Processing: Truck discrepancies and inventory issues logged and worked within required timeframes.
  • Audit Support: Effective participation in physical inventories and spot audits.
  • Process Compliance: Adherence to inventory control procedures and documentation standards.
  • Communication & Responsiveness: Timely response to emails and tickets in line with departmental SLAs.
  • Task Completion: Consistent completion of assigned inventory control tasks.
