Position Summary

A Compliance Analyst II, Fair Lending is responsible for ensuring that an organization complies with fair lending laws and regulations. They analyze lending data, identify potential fair lending risks, and develop strategies to mitigate those risks. They conduct audits and reviews to ensure compliance with fair lending policies and procedures. Additionally, they provide guidance and training to staff members on fair lending practices and regulations.

Compensation

This role is an exempt position with a Targeted Salary Range of $55,000 to $83,000 annually.

Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.

Essential Functions

  • Support the identification, measurement, and mitigation of fair lending compliance risks in the organization.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of mortgage lending data to identify potential fair lending risks.
  • Complete periodic fair lending reviews, including ongoing comparative file reviews, marketing analysis, quality of assistance, exceptions, and redlining reviews.
  • Monitor and evaluate the company’s lending practices to ensure compliance with fair lending laws and regulations.
  • Maintain an ongoing state-specific CRA monitoring program, coordinating business-line efforts in compliance with document retention requirements. Creates, updates, and maintains continuous records of CRA performance.
  • Maintain detailed work papers to support findings from fair lending analyses and prepare clear and concise written reports on fair lending performance to senior management. Ensure appropriate remediation occurs.
  • Develop and implement written policies/procedures and fair lending training programs for staff.
  • Stay updated on changes in fair lending laws and regulations and ensure the company’s practices are aligned.
  • Assist in the preparation for regulatory examinations and audits, including advance preparation, follow-up on issues and observations, and develop written responses as needed.
  • Collaborate with compliance, legal, and business units to address fair lending issues. Maintain relationships for collaboration in developing and monitoring performance goals that meet the company’s fair lending and/or CRA objectives, as well as state-specific requirements.
  • Support various business line projects to address specific fair lending compliance risk issues, working with business leaders to analyze and quantify risks, assess solutions or mitigation activities, and develop remediation plans.
  • Oversee fair-lending related marketing efforts, ensuring that advertising is inclusive, and campaigns promote and focus on compliant fair lending practices.
  • Review and conduct analysis on marketing programs to identify potential compliance fair lending issues, exercise decisions, and resolve independently.
  • Provide support on reviewing advertisements in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide support for the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) compliance program as needed.
  • Maintain proficiency in software tools necessary to complete requisite fair lending analysis.
  • Manage special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree directly related to the position or equivalent, or college courses/technical training related to Business, Finance, Legal or related field, required.
  • Minimum of three years' related work experience required. Experience working in fair lending a plus.
  • Ability to work well independently or within a team.
  • Complete knowledge of various applicable regulations, specifically: TCPA, RESPA, UDAAP, CAN SPAM, SAFE ACT.
  • General knowledge of overall mortgage lending process; prior mortgage, lending or related industry experience.
  • Sound judgment, ability to think critically.
  • Work independently in a fast-paced environment to complete work following procedures.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines; strong sense of urgency and responsiveness. 
  • Familiarity with different forms of social media and related applications and websites including how they are accessed and used, along with print, radio and television.
  • Prior experience performing general administrative duties including filing, photocopying, data entry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Wiki, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications required.

Requirements

Physical: Work is primarily sedentary; mobility in an office setting.

Manual Dexterity: Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards

Audio/Visual: Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation. Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio, e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media. 

Environmental: Office environment – moderate noise, no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Mental: Must be able to adhere to process protocol. Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.

Travel: 5-10%
