Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.
Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Deputy Product Manager in Canberra to work on COSPO projects.
What You’Ll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
- Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee in-service aspects including issues, defects, and coordination with Product Services and Field Service Representatives.
- Reporting & Compliance: Deliver accurate product line reporting ensuring accountability, traceability, and compliance.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Support PdM in building strong stakeholder relationships, produce collateral (slides, diagrams, brochures), and ensure consistent communication across COSPO.
- Product Demonstrations & Accreditation: Plan and administer product demonstration events, and coordinate security accreditation/re-accreditation for the product line.
- Team & Risk Management: Participate in staff selection, assist with risk management, triage user stories/defects, and contribute to schedules and product documentation.
What You’Ll Bring
- Core Qualifications: Bachelor degree in ICT (or related discipline) plus Project Management qualifications.
- Mandatory Certifications: Certified SAFe® Practitioner and Certified SAFe® DevOps Practitioner (required for COSPO personnel).
- Project & Stakeholder Experience: Proven background in project management, stakeholder engagement, and delivering outcomes under tight timeframes.
- Agile & Cyber Expertise: Experience applying Agile processes to interpret user stories, with meaningful IT and/or cyber security knowledge.
- Desirable Specialisations: Additional credentials such as Product Management, Systems Engineering, Cyber Security, ITIL, Change Management, Business Analysis, and Defence project delivery experience.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
