We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Sr. Advanced Materials and Process Engineer to join our team in Broomfield, CO. This role focuses on designing, developing, and testing advanced materials and manufacturing processes critical for complex systems to ensure reliability, scalability, and manufacturability. You will work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality to establish standard practices for material selection and process controls across hardware platforms.

- Works between scientists, engineers, material management, and technicians to select materials and processes based on mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties.
- Research and qualify advanced materials for application on quantum hardware.
- Design and implement scalable manufacturing processes for precision components and assemblies.
- Develop process documentation and controls to ensure repeatability and yield improvement.
- Partner with design, quality, and material management to ensure material compatibility and maintain approved materials list.
- Support prototype builds and identifies opportunities for process improvement.
- Evaluate material and process failure modes, perform root cause analysis, and drive mitigations.
You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree minimum
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in advanced materials and process engineering role.
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
We Value:
- Advanced degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Experience with complex hardware systems (aerospace, optical, cryogenic, photonics, electronics)
- Demonstrated ability to develop and scale processes from R&D to production.
- Hands-on approach to problem solving and willingness to engage directly with R&D and production teams
- Knowledge of failure analysis tools (SEM, XPS, etc.)
- Proficiency in GD&T and process validation.
- Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
- Experience with quality inspections and vendor management for passive optics (lenses, prisms, optical fibers and connectors) and active optics (acousto-optic modulators, electro-optic modulators, lasers)
- Experience with reliability testing of optical components and opto-mechanical systems
- Experience with data analytics for hardware performance.
- Ability to build strong relationships and effectively partner with others
- Excellent organization, communication, and documentation skills
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
