This contract Database Administrator Intermediate role supports a large federal agency, focusing on the protection of critical application databases within a large-scale IT environment. The role involves engineering hardware and systems, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring operational availability and compliance using tools such as the Imperva SecureSphere platform. Candidates must possess seasoned IT security expertise, hands-on technical skills, and strong communication and planning abilities. It's a high-impact opportunity to shape database security within a major federal agency.

This is a multi-year contract position involving a large US federal agency. Candidates with previous federal contracting experience are preferred.

U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required. If hired, all work related to this role must be performed within the continental U.S.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer, monitor, and secure the client’s database systems.
  • Engineer hardware and systems for optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure operational availability.
  • Identify and resolve system errors.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams.
  • Install and update database security agents.
  • Produce documentation to standardize operational processes.
  • Lead the review of system reports to identify and resolve issues.
  • Upgrade and configure database monitoring tools.
  • Deploy agents, sensors, and other database security tools.

Requirements

  • Four (4) or more years of experience with database security solutions (Imperva preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in information security, IT, or a related field. Direct experience or certifications may substitute for academic credentials.
  • Ability to lead the review of system reports to identify and resolve issues.
  • Experience with upgrading and configuring database monitoring tools.
  • Proven experience deploying agents, sensors, and other database security tools.
  • Strong database diagnostic and troubleshooting experience in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with generating operational support documentation.
  • Familiarity with federal security policies and reporting requirements.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
