Your Role
The Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan (BSCPHP) Finance team is responsible for implementing financial program requirements from Department of Healthcare Services (DHCS) and other regulators as well as monitoring Medi-Cal financial performance including budget variances, growth and cost trends, forecasts, scenario modeling, and financial reporting. Medi-Cal programs managed within BSCPHP Finance team include but are not limited to Proposition 56 Supplemental Payment program, Hospital and other Directed Payment programs, CalAIM Incentive Payment Programs, and Skilled Nursing Facility Incentive Programs. The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the Finance Analytics Senior Manager and will be responsible for preparing various routine and on-demand tasks and reports that might involve extracting, manipulating, and analyzing data related to Medi-Cal line of Business and its various programs.
Your Work
In This Role, You Will:
- Assist with implementation and monitoring of DHCS directed payment programs, including data validation and cross referencing, data analytics, data modeling, data compiling and monitoring key managed care statistics
- Support financial performance reporting and budget variance analysis including cost analysis and driver identification
- Support the membership growth and retention reporting and forecasting
- Follow and conduct audit and internal control processes to ensure readiness, and compliance with accounting standards, principles and company policy
- Work with cross-functional partners across the organization to achieve department and organization objectives
- Be responsible for monitoring provider inquiry inbox for Finance, research and triage the inquiries and ensure resolution in timely manner
- Support and sometimes lead, projects as subject matter expert
- Collect and evaluate data, develop and maintain financial models, analyze results and conduct scenario analyses
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Requires at least 5 years of prior relevant experience
- Demonstrated mathematics, analytics, or problem-solved skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookups, advanced formulas, etc.)
- Preferred experience with healthcare payor industry
- Preferred experience with database analytics (ex: SQL, Visual Studio, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills
