Would you like to contribute to the safer use of vaccines and medicines for everyone everywhere? We are looking for a lead UX designer to join UMC’s product development team.
As lead UX designer, you will guide the user experience for all UMC products. You will work with developers, product managers, researchers, and other stakeholders to make sure our products are easy to use, accessible, and meet user needs. This is a strategic role where you will shape the future of UX at UMC. You will define and promote a UX vision that supports both user and organisational goals. You will create and implement UX strategies, processes, and best practices. You will also promote user-centered design across the organisation.
Since 1978, Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) has been dedicated to developing, supporting, and expanding the field of pharmacovigilance science and practice.
As a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre, we support work around the world to examine the potential adverse effects of medicines and vaccines and contribute to safer, more informed care of patients.

- About the role
- You will report to the Head of Solution Engineering Vigi Products but support all UMC product portfolios.
What you will do
- Collaborate across teams – Work with developers, researchers, product owners, product managers, and other stakeholders to include UX in agile workflows. Lead design workshops, stakeholder interviews, and usability reviews. Turn research and insights into actionable design decisions.
- Design work – Do user research, usability testing, and heuristic evaluations. Create wireframes, prototypes, and interface designs for UMC applications. Make sure designs meet regulatory requirements, accessibility standards, and clinical needs.
- Promote UX culture – Educate developers and the wider organisation in UX principles and methods. Build a culture of empathy and design thinking. Helkp prepare for future growth of the UX team and support recruitment.
Who You Are
- Experienced UX designer with at least 7-10 years or work experience.
- Proven ability to lead UX work at a strategic level.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in agile environments, especially in healthcare.
- Knowledge of accessibility and regulatory design requirements. Hands-on experience with user research and usability testing.
- Experience creating digital health solutions, working with international teams, and promoting user-centred design.
- Experience mentoring or building UX teams and supporting culture change around design thinking.
