South Pacific Meats Malvern is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Supervisor to join our team based at our plant in Burnham near Christchurch.

Job Description

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor leads and supports frontline teams to meet production, quality, yield, and regulatory targets while maintaining HACCP standards.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading, mentoring, and motivating production teams to resolve day-to-day issues
  • Monitoring and optimising labour resource usage to achieve throughput and efficiency targets
  • Ensuring HACCP compliance and maintaining process control
  • Overseeing productivity, quality, yield, process flow, and cost control initiatives
  • Conducting staff training, development, supervision, and mentoring
  • Documenting and processing production records accurately and in a timely manner
  • Driving continuous improvement activities
  • Upholding health & safety standards and leading safety initiatives
  • Performing other duties as directed by the Plant Management team

Hours of work vary from 30 – 50 hours per week and applicants must be available to work both day and night shift, and overtime when necessary. The hourly rate ranges from $30.00 to $38.00, depending on skills and experience.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have proven experience supervising production teams, preferably within meat processing or food manufacturing. Strong leadership and operational management skills are essential, along with competence in productivity, yield, quality control, and cost management. You should have experience with HACCP and regulatory compliance systems, excellent communication abilities, computer literacy, and accurate documentation skills. A commitment to staff training, development, continuous improvement, and health and safety is critical for success in this role.
