Summary:

We are looking for a Senior UX Researcher to establish and lead our UX research practice at Jewelers Mutual’s UX Team. As our first UX research hire, you’ll build the foundation for how we understand our customers – both consumers and jewelry professional, by conducting strategic research that shapes product direction. You’ll partner closely with our product designers and their squads, where designers are already conducting lightweight research and eager for your expertise.  

This role is ideal for someone who can balance hands-on research with practice-building and strategic influence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Lead Strategic Research

  • Design and execute user research studies (qualitative and quantitative) that inform product strategy and uncover new opportunities
  • Identify and prioritize high-leverage research initiatives by partnering with designers and product teams
  • Self-direct your work to focus on research that drives the greatest business and user impact

Build Research Practice

  • Create and maintain a research repository for team-wide access to findings
  • Establish research best practices, processes and templates for both in-person and remote research, leveraging virtual tool and onsite design lab.
  • Leverage participant recruitment systems and scheduling workflows that scale as the team grows

Deliver Actionable Insights

  • Synthesize findings into clear, actionable recommendations through compelling storytelling
  • Communicate research effectively across product teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Document findings in the research repository for ongoing team access

Partner & Enable

  • Mentor UX Designers in research methods and support their research efforts
  • Build trusted relationships with designers, product teams, and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the UX Researcher (joining in 2026) on complex studies and their development
  • Identifies Opportunities: Brings to light journey-driven opportunities for improvement or new products

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of conducting UX research in-house
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/and or experience in UX research or similar will be considered.
  • Direct experience conducting design research across different types of methodologies (qualitative, quantitative, exploratory, generative)
  • Highly skilled in qualitative research methods
  • Ability to think strategically regarding the application of data and research
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities, turning constraints into opportunities
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate research insights in compelling, memorable ways that drive clear action
  • Ability to understand and relate to users' needs and perspectives
  • A talent for identifying opportunities in user flows
  • Ability to forge strong partnerships with product managers, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible, adapting to changing priorities
  • Eager to continue in development of research skills to the highest standards, including clear articulation of research objectives, thoughtful selection of methods, rigorous synthesis, and engaging and precise communication of findings
