Role Description:
Arcadis is seeking a Principal Management Consultant to help advance and expand our Emergency Management and Resilience consulting services. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic seller-doer who excels at building strong client partnerships, leading complex and impactful projects, and delivering high-value solutions in emergency management, disaster recovery, and critical infrastructure resilience.
In this role, you will apply your deep technical expertise and proven experience working with federal, state, and local emergency management agencies to drive successful project delivery and support strategic business development. You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them through their most critical challenges, while playing a key role in pursuit leadership and client engagement. This position focuses on hands-on project leadership and client service excellence, rather than national strategy development, making it ideal for professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment.
Role Accountabilities:
In this role, you will lead complex, multidisciplinary projects in emergency management, disaster recovery, hazard mitigation, and critical infrastructure resilience. Serving as a project manager or technical lead, you will act as a primary client partner—building and maintaining strong relationships with federal agencies, state and local governments, utilities, and private-sector organizations—while ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality, impactful solutions.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Leading project delivery by managing scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables, ensuring technical excellence, adherence to Arcadis standards, and a high level of client satisfaction.
- Serving as a client-facing partner, cultivating and strengthening relationships across public and private sectors to support current engagements and position Arcadis for future opportunities.
- Guiding and mentoring project teams, providing clear direction, technical oversight, and quality assurance while fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment.
- Driving business development efforts, identifying and pursuing new opportunities; leading or supporting proposals, interviews, and presentations; and developing technical content for marketing and pursuit materials.
- Providing specialized technical leadership by delivering expertise in emergency management and resilience, developing innovative solutions such as risk assessments, continuity and mitigation strategies, and recovery plans, while staying current on industry trends and regulatory changes.
Key Skills And Experience:
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate strong seller-doer capabilities, including the ability to secure and successfully deliver multimillion-dollar projects. You will lead complex emergency management, disaster recovery, and resilience initiatives as a project manager or technical lead, applying deep technical expertise in areas such as hazard mitigation and critical infrastructure protection. You will consistently deliver high-quality work on time and within budget while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction. Success in this position also requires strong business development skills, including proposal development, client presentations, and pursuit leadership. Additionally, you will mentor and develop junior staff and communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats, bringing a mindset of innovation and excellence to all aspects of your work.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Engineering, Public Policy, or a related field
- 12+ years of relevant experience, including 8+ years in consulting or project management roles
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Experience working with FEMA, USACE, EPA, or similar agencies
