Core Responsibilities 1. Agile & Scrum Facilitation & Coordination
- Run all Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives, tailored for compliance-focused work.
- Work with the SOX Program Owner to maintain a clear, prioritized Program Backlog of controls documentation, testing, remediation tasks, and process improvements.
- Actively coordinate the tracking and follow-up on all program deliverables, milestones, and required evidence to ensure timely completion for internal and external audits.
- Proactively identify, track, and remove roadblocks related to documentation access, evidence gathering, or delays from control owners across Finance, IT, and Operations.
- Manage expectations and timelines with diverse internal stakeholders, including Executive Sponsors, Internal Audit, External Auditors, and Control Owners, ensuring work gets done on time and with top quality.
- Act as the key communication link, providing clear, concise, and professional status updates and reports on SOX project progress to the SOX Program Manager and senior leadership.
- Create and maintain a clear log of program risks (e.g., control failure, lack of evidence, delays in remediation) and actively develop and track mitigation plans with the responsible control owners.
- Protect the teams from outside distractions and ensure control owners remain focused on delivering required SOX tasks on schedule.
- Help the SOX Program team define and track useful Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) specific to SOX compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement by guiding the team to identify and implement changes to the SOX tracking and evidence-gathering process during retrospectives.
- Ensure the program's workflow and progress are visible to all stakeholders using tools like JIRA, Confluence, or similar project management systems.
- 7+ years of experience as a dedicated Scrum Master for a complex compliance/ program team.
- Expert-level knowledge of Agile/Scrum concepts, practices, and theory.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to interact confidently and effectively with executive management, auditors, and technical control owners.
- Clear experience within a large, complex corporate or IT department environment.
- Expertise in Agile management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) or ITIL concepts.
- Familiarity with IT General Controls (ITGCs), IT Service Management (ITSM)/ITIL concepts, and how they relate to compliance work.
- Prior experience or familiarity with the SOX compliance lifecycle (control design, testing, remediation).
- Experience with Kanban or a blended Scrum/Kanban approach for managing continuous flow tasks.
- Valid Scrum Master certification (e.g., CSM, PSM I/II, or equivalent).
