Job Description
What You'Ll Build
You'll build ApprovalMax's customer research practice while serving as a hands-on execution partner for PLG initiatives. This is a hybrid role: approximately 50-60% research, 30-40% campaign execution, with 20-30% of your time dedicated to in-product campaign management.

You'll have high autonomy, direct influence on product strategy, and the chance to shape how customer insights drive decisions in a growing B2B SaaS company where scrappy, actionable insights matter more than perfect methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
Research & Insights (50-60%)
- Lead qualitative research to improve activation and conversion across the trial-to-paid journey
- Conduct customer interviews using JTBD methodology to understand motivations and adoption patterns
- Develop actionable behavioral segments based on customer journeys and desired outcomes
- Analyze conversion funnels and user cohorts in Amplitude to identify opportunities and friction points
- Present insights to Product, Marketing, and leadership in decision-ready formats
PLG Campaign Execution (30-40%)
- Execute and manage in-app campaigns for product communications (feature announcements, onboarding flows, beta invitations, surveys, etc.)
- Handle campaign setup, segmentation, deployment, and performance tracking
- Write customer-facing copy that drives engagement and activation
- Collaborate with PLG Manager on messaging strategy and targeting
- Monitor campaign performance and iterate based on data
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Marketing to validate messaging and positioning
- Build continuous feedback loops that translate insights into prioritized opportunities
- Support the PLG team with execution capacity as needed
Qualifications
- 3+ years product/UX research experience in B2B SaaS with a track record of influencing product decisions
- Hands-on experience with customer engagement platforms (Intercom, Braze, Customer.io, or similar)
- Comfortable independently analyzing funnels and cohorts in Amplitude or similar analytics tools
- Proficiency with JTBD framework and behavioral segmentation
- Strong written communication skills for customer-facing content
- Experience with conversion optimization, onboarding research, or PLG environments
Working Style:
- Can operate independently to shape research practices and drive adoption across teams
- Comfortable with scrappy, iterative approaches over months-long studies
- Use AI to scale research impact and automate analysis
- Move quickly from insight to hypothesis to test to measurement
- Comfortable having research findings challenged and debated
