As part of our finance team, you will play a key role in tracking income and expenditures, ensuring statutory compliance, and delivering accurate financial insights to stakeholders across the business. You’ll support both near-mine and in-mine programs by performing essential activities related to financial tracking, reporting, and forecasting. This role offers the opportunity to take on more complex responsibilities with increasing independence as you grow.

Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close process, including quarterly financial audits and control testing
- Prepare account reconciliations, review costs for completeness, and evaluate reasonableness of balances to research and proactively resolve errors or reconciling items.
- Prepare cost variance analyses and promote cost controls and efficiency in the business
- Use IFRS, US GAAP and NGM accounting policies, procedures, internal control standards, and maintain compliance while performing responsibilities
- Recognize, communicate, and resolve potential issues
- Contribute ideas and actions towards the continuous improvement of processes within area of influence
- Assist in establishing and maintaining strong, collaborative partnerships with finance customers
- Gives and encourages feedback, contributes to building a positive team culture, and puts success of team above own interests
- Assist with research activities either to support others or to fulfill the requirements of the role
- Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents
- Resolve queries from operations, or others as applicable by providing information on work product and the related policies, referring to others where necessary for interpretation of policy
- Deliver small project workstreams, carrying out specified project activities within defined time and quality parameters and ensuring adherence to the prescribed project management and permitting methodology
- Follow the organization's Health Safety & Enviromental policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself and others in the workplace
- Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Finance
- Minimum two (2) years’ prior related position experience
- Understanding of IFRS, US GAAP and financial analysis/reporting requirements
- Knowledge of accounting and understanding of business-related implications
- Awareness of business law and general management principles
- Proficient in the application of the Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Demonstrates familiarity with ERP systems, GL reconciliation software and financial reporting software, i.e. SAP, wDesk reporting, ARCs and OneStream.
