The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance and repair of company’s buildings, properties and grounds. This includes management of facilities team, construction and renovations planning and coordination of general maintenance. Additionally, the Supervisor is responsible for the preparation and planning for natural disasters and fire prevention and protection.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.
What You'Ll Do
- Ensures the preservation and good working conditions of all Seaspan infrastructure.
- Manages, mentors and develops the Facility and Support teams;
- Ensures all facilities are safe and well-functioning.
- Coordinates and monitors regular inspections and on-going maintenance.
- Selects and controls contract repair work. Maintains accurate and detailed records of inspections and maintenance.
- Prepares and monitors the annual facilities operating and capital expenditure budgets.
- Project management oversight of the annual Corporate Capex plan.
- Schedules and oversees the maintenance and operations of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, elevator, and others.
- Creates standardized protocol for daily/weekly/monthly/annual rounds, meter readings, and other predictive and preventive maintenance requirements.
- Establishes and maintains relationships within all departments with communication and understanding of needs and expectations.
- Manages monthly or periodic inspections of building systems, i.e., HVAC, electrical distribution, Fire Alarm and other building systems. Prepares reports of recommended corrective action.
- Negotiates prices with external contractors, selects and oversees work carried out by contractors to ensure equipment is repaired in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Reviews utilities consumption and strives to minimize costs.
- Controls activities, such as parking space allocation, waste disposal, recycling programs etc.
- Allocates office space according to needs.
- Plans and coordinates office moves with business unit representatives.
- Performs other duties as required.
What You'Ll Bring
- A minimum of 7 years in a Facilities Management role.
- Bachelor of Science or Technical degree in Construction Operations, Property Management or a trade certification is an asset.
- A well rounded background in construction and/or property management.
- Knowledge of construction planning, mechanical or electrical systems necessary, building controls, fire systems, and security systems.
- Knowledge of building automation systems.
- Strong relationship skills including the ability to deal tactfully with customers and respond to customer requests efficiently.
- Technically proficient in planning and scheduling and exhibit excellent organizational skills.
- The Ability to lead coordination meetings and actively facilitate progress in order to achieve scheduled goals.
- Ability to work cooperatively with internal administration groups, and effectively contend with customers and contractors to reach mutually acceptable terms and conditions.
- Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project. Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good negotiating skills.
- Analytical, problem solving and creative skills to identify repair solutions for unique situations.

The estimated salary for this position is $135,000 - $165,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
