Technical Project Manager I - (2503219) Position Information 

TxDOT's Beaumont District is looking for a Technical Project Manager I to join us in our Beaumont District Special Crews section. As a Technical Project Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in planning, scheduling, coordinating and leading our special crews in complex maintenance repairs that will keep our roadway and bridge systems safe and modern. From construction management and analyzing data to collaborating with engineers and other department and community stakeholders, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the seamless flow of people and goods while preserving Texas' unique cultural and environmental heritage. Position Description

 

Manages advanced engineering, architectural, or construction projects, providing leadership in planning, oversight and compliance with state and federal regulations.  Oversees projects objectives, ensures quality assurance/quality control, and maintains project integrity.  Work requires extensive contact with agency management, governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self -supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.

Essential Duties:

  • Compiles and distributes project information, status reports, and project budget expenditures. 
  • Conducts project reviews and coordinates inspections with various inspectors and other district/division project managers. 
  • Creates documentation procedures to capture and deal with changes in original project plan.
  • Directs, develops, implements, and evaluates project budgets, schedules, work plans, resources requirements, and cost estimates and projections. 
  • Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards for assigned projects. 
  • Identifies potential project impediments, risks, and issues; and designs strategies to mitigate or avoid them. 
  • Oversees project assignments, determines work requirements to complete project plans and coordinates scheduling to accommodate project already underway.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. 
 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 5 years construction project management; project management, process engineering and/or business process improvement methodologies. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent).

Licenses And Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
  • May require certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma Black Belt or one or more change managementdisciplines.
