We are seeking an experienced Lead Welder with strong expertise in carbide welding and fabrication for oilfield tools. This role requires hands-on technical skills in welding, grinding, and downhole tool repair, along with the ability to read engineering drawings and ensure high safety and quality standards. The Lead Welder will support workshop operations, guide junior welders when needed, and contribute to continuous improvement in service quality and operational efficiency.
- Perform tungsten carbide welding and redress work on stabilizers, mills, rotary shoes, cutting knives, and other downhole tools.
- Weld and fabricate metal components according to blueprints, layouts, and work orders using a variety of welding techniques (arc, gas, brazing).
- Conduct thermal cutting, grinding, repairs of cracked or broken parts, and size restoration of metal components.
- Set up, position, and clamp components for welding; ensure high-quality workmanship in all tasks.
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and consumables, and arrange replenishment when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Quality, and HSE policies, supporting a safe and efficient work environment.
- Provide guidance to junior welders on proper welding techniques and workshop best practices when required.
- Support operational needs, including occasional after-hours or on-call activities.
Required:
- Minimum 3 years of welding experience, including carbide welding.
- Hands-on experience in fabrication and repair of downhole tools.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Experience with overhead crane operations.
- Ability to work safely, follow procedures, and adapt to operational demands.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in oil and gas workshop environments.
