About The Role:
This position involves developing and supporting mechanical designs for advanced optical components and systems. The mechanical engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to capture product concepts, document component and process flows, and perform analytical studies on material and packaging performance.
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain mechanical models and drawings of the latest optical product designs using SolidWorks.
- Collaborate with electrical, optical, and process engineers to document and visualize design concepts and product architecture.
- Capture and document component flow across assembly and test processes.
- Support material and packaging selection, including epoxy and mechanical housing choices.
- Perform thermal, structural, and strain analyses, including root-sum-square (RSS) tolerance analysis, to ensure mechanical reliability and performance.
- Generate detailed visualizations and renderings for engineering reviews and design presentations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design documentation and engineering workflows.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
- Experience with rendering and visualization tools such as SolidWorks Visualize.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools for documentation and report generation.
- Familiarity with COMSOL or equivalent for multiphysics simulations is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of thermal and structural analysis principles, materials behavior, and mechanical design for assembly and manufacturability.
- Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment.
