Legal Counsel – Build our Australian Legal Function (Part-Time / Flexible)
Altera Digital Health Adelaide or Melbourne
Altera Digital Health is a leading global healthcare IT provider and a subsidiary of Constellation Software Inc (CSI). Constellation Software, a publicly traded company on the Toronto Stock Exchange is renowned for acquiring and managing vertical market software businesses.
At Altera, we foster a unique culture rooted in our core values—our unwavering commitment to respect, discipline, innovation and transparency guides every action we take. We have a range of clients across APAC using our own solutions such as our electronic health record (EHR) platform Sunrise™ as well as several third-party solutions we proudly resell into the region.
Our solutions are designed to help our clients improve performance and better leverage their software to create a more connected, efficient, and effective healthcare system.
A legal role without the 60-hour weeks.
We're looking for a commercial lawyer to build our legal function in Australia from the ground up. You'll be the go-to legal brain for the entire region, a key advisor to our leadership, and the driving force behind our most important deals.
The difference? We know you have a life. This role is designed to be part-time (think 2-3 days a week) because we care about your output, not your hours.
This isn't a back-office job. It's a front-row seat to the future of Australian healthcare technology. You're not just managing risk; you're actively shaping our growth, finding creative ways to get to 'yes', and building the legal playbook that will define our success here.
What You'Ll Actually Be Doing:
- You'll run complex SaaS, software, and partnership negotiations with major health providers from start to finish.
- Our leadership team will rely on your clear, practical advice on everything from privacy and data security to new market entry.
- This is your canvas. You'll create and refine the legal templates, processes, and culture that will scale with us for years to come.
Who We'Re Looking For:
- You're an Australian-qualified lawyer with a current practising certificate and a strong background in corporate and commercial law (from a great firm or in-house team).
- You're famously commercial. You understand that the law is a tool to achieve business goals, not a barrier. Experience in tech (especially SaaS) or health is a huge plus.
- You love autonomy. The idea of being the sole legal expert for a fast-growing region excites you. You're a self-starter who just gets things done.
Why you should talk to us:
- Real Flexibility: This is a part-time role because we trust you to deliver. Whether it's 2/3 days a week or adjusted hours, we'll build a structure that works for you.
- See Your Impact Daily: Forget abstract advice. Your work directly enables the technology that improves patient care in hospitals across the country. You'll see the results.
- Build It, Then Lead It: As the lawyer on the ground, you're not just building a function; you're building your future. The path to a senior leadership role in the region starts here.
- Ready for a role that fits your ambition and your life?
- If you're ready for a challenge with genuine ownership and impact, let's talk.
- Apply now or get in touch with Clodagh McKeefry at Clodagh.mckeefry@alterahealth.com for a confidential chat.
