Product Owner, Payments - Pune, India

In this role you will work as a member of the Payment Product team.  You will ensure that Western Union has best-in-class product capabilities, which will enable our customers to have the best possible experience.  You will own and set the strategy for your product line and be accountable for execution upon that strategy. 

  • Key Responsibilities
  •     Require 6+ years overall in Product Management / Product Ownership
  •     Cross-Border Payments | Inward Remittances | FinTech / Banking domain preferred/
  •     Own the product vision, roadmap, and KPIs for funds out payments and related customer experiences.
  •     Translate business goals into clear product requirements, user stories, and prioritized backlogs.
  •     Partner with global payment providers, banks, and internal operations to streamline settlement, reconciliation, and tracking of inbound funds.
  •     Ensure regulatory compliance and risk controls across multiple payment corridors (AML, KYC, sanctions, FX, etc.).
  •     Work closely with engineering and design teams to deliver intuitive, scalable payment features with measurable customer impact.
  •     Analyze customer feedback, operational data, and payment metrics to continuously optimize conversion and delivery times.
  •     Collaborate with marketing, support, and analytics teams to enhance customer trust and transparency in cross-border transactions.
  •     Champion a customer-centric culture, ensuring product decisions balance innovation, compliance, and usability.

Role Requirements

  •     Deep understanding of cross-border payment ecosystems, inward remittances, and money movement flows (SWIFT, local clearing, wallets, FX, etc.).
  •     Proven experience in product ownership or management in financial services, payments, or fintech domains.
  •     Strong analytical mindset; ability to use data and metrics to inform decisions.
  •     Excellent communication skills; able to work effectively across business, technical, and regulatory teams.
  •     Demonstrated leadership in agile environments, with the ability to manage shifting priorities.
  •     Passionate about delivering simple, reliable, and transparent payment experiences for customers.
  •     Preferred Qualifications
  •     Experience integrating or managing payment partners (banks, PSPs,aggregators ).
  •     Familiarity with inward payment 
  •     Exposure to APIs, payment orchestration, and transaction monitoring systems.
  •     Strong sense of ownership, curiosity, and a “can-do” attitude.
