This position is a member of our Information Resources Division.
Here’S What You’Ll Be Doing
- Coordinate and perform advanced computer systems analysis, administration and delivery of complex IT systems of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- Lead, plan, document, and coordinate enterprise application administration and release activities. Serve as the primary administrator for Oracle WebCenter Content (WCC) and provide support for other enterprise systems as needed. Oversee configuration, patching, upgrades, and integrations with related applications. Coordinate with contractors, stakeholders, and other technical teams to ensure successful deployments and minimal downtime.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting, system monitoring, and technical support for Linux-based environments and enterprise applications. Collaborate with Data Center staff, other TCEQ technical support staff, and vendors to resolve technical issues.
- Develop and maintain procedures and technical documentation for systems administration and application support. Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs), configuration baselines, and disaster recovery documentation. Provide cross-training and consulting to technical and program staff to ensure continuity and adherence to best practices.
- Plan, implement, and maintain security and compliance measures for supported systems. Manage user access controls, conduct vulnerability reviews, and ensure systems adhere to agency and state cybersecurity standards.
Qualifications
Key Qualifications
- Experience installing, maintaining, or administering enterprise applications or middleware systems such as Oracle WebCenter Content, WebLogic, or similar platforms.
- Experience administering Linux-based operating systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux, CentOS) and related enterprise environments.
- Experience with shell scripting or automation tools such as Bash, Python, Jenkins, or Cron for system management or deployment tasks.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree in an information technologies or related field from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of full-time experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment.
OR
Completion of 15 semester hours in information technologies from an accredited college, plus five (5) years of full-time experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment.
OR
Six (6) years of full-time experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment.
All the above experience options must have included successful completion of two (2) years as a full-time UNIX, LINUX, Novell, or Windows Server Systems Administrator in a multi-platform environment.

WORK SCHEDULE
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Information Resources Division.
