This is an unaccompanied position with a one-year minimum commitment at a remote, austere location near the town of Sliven, Bulgaria. The candidate will be required to apply for and receive a requisite work visa before going to Bulgaria. As such, the candidate will first stage at a site near Constanta, Romania upon hire while applying for the visa; this process takes 4-6 months. Upon receipt of visa, the candidate will transfer to Bulgaria and proceed to apply for the required Residency Permit. A Housing Allowance (HOLA) is provided in both locations. Use of a leased vehicle is provided while staging in Romania. Use of a leased vehicle will be provided for the first 3-4 months upon arrival in Bulgaria. Upon receipt of the residency permit, the candidate will be expected to begin the process of acquiring and registering a Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) for personal use.
The System Administrator provides oversight of the Tier I and Tier II service desk support team for a large base of end-users in an austere location. This includes managing servers such as Print and DHCP servers. A key part of their role involves assisting users with hardware and software issues, setting up devices, managing user accounts, and ensuring systems are updated and secure. They support collaboration platforms like Microsoft O365, helping users with email, Teams and OneDrive. Through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation they help maintain smooth day-to-day operations.
Pursuant to knowledge and experience, opportunities exist to assist Network Administrators with the administration of network switches and other devices as well as data and voice systems and architectures.

- As a Systems Administrator, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of U.S. Army Europe. You will play a crucial role in providing mission command support.
The Systems Administrator will report to the site lead and ensure that all team activities are properly documented and communicated in accordance with the task order, customer expectations, and PMO guidelines. This role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, solid experience in systems administration, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Providing outstanding customer service is essential, as the System Administrator will be expected to deliver reliable, respectful, and effective support to every end user. The ideal candidate will work well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and maintain a strong working relationship with government personnel and other stakeholders.
The Tier I and II service desk and systems administration functions.
- Provide first-line customer support across multiple channels (in-person, phone, email, AESMP ticketing), delivering prompt troubleshooting and resolution for systems, software, and hardware issues.
- Manage client systems through installation, configuration, patching, and maintenance of Microsoft Office suites, theater-authorized software, and vendor platforms. Ensure compliance with STIG, SCAP, IAVA, ACAS, and BIOS security standards.
- Troubleshoot Microsoft operating systems, including current Army Gold Master versions, and support Microsoft O365 migration efforts by coordinating with entitlement managers and resolving access issues.
- Administer Active Directory accounts and Organizational Units (OUs) in accordance with provisioning procedures. Utilize AESMP and AVS systems to validate documentation, access prerequisites, and training requirements.
- Support AUDS account creation workflows, including license verification and user guidance for entitlement management.
- Collaborate with the SCCM team to assist with end-user troubleshooting and provide technical support for MBAM, Network Access Controls, GPOs, and AD structures.
- Process non-standard software requests through authorized channels and assist with software license tracking, renewals, audits, and inventory management.
- Validate and archive ATO, ATC, and CoN documentation in alignment with AR 25-1 and network accreditation protocols.
- Conduct Information Management Officer (IMO) and customer application training, develop instructional materials, and participate in product development, testing, and rollout initiatives.
- Analyze and improve Knowledge Databases, SOPs, and Work Order Procedures to enhance response times, reduce resolution delays, and maintain contractual compliance.
- Collect and document network metrics to identify service improvement opportunities, working with technical teams and tools to support customer satisfaction throughout the delivery process.

- Education: High school diploma or equivalency. Graduate of military or technical school in the field of Information Technology.
- Experience: 5 years experience
- Technical skills: Qualified Systems Administrator candidates must meet current requirements under AR 25-2 and DoD Instruction 8570/8140 to hold elevated privileges on DoD and U.S Army networks. Must hold a current baseline certification such as a Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent: Azure focused certification are preferred.

- Role requirements: Must have a valid US and international driver’s permit. Excellent customer service skills and communication skills are necessary.
