Description
John Marshall Bank is hiring for a Portfolio Manager who will be responsible for providing underwriting, loan review, and credit monitoring support to the Commercial Lending Department. The position requires strong interpersonal skills to frequently communicate with clients, prospects, and third-party vendors.
- Manage own loan portfolio, while providing direct support to loan officers within lending market.
- Prepare and request lists of information from borrowers for underwriting, covenant testing, and exception clearing.
- Prepare front-end analysis and draft term sheets for loan requests.
- Coordinate with Credit Department to assign underwriting requests and gather additional information from borrower needed to complete analysis. Required to underwrite when necessary.
- Review all pertinent credit and financial information, including information from appraisals, environmental reports, collateral field exams, reporting services, and credit bureaus. Determine the need for more thorough investigation or additional information and contact appropriate sources for such information.
- Coordinate with Loan Department to ensure proper and accurate documentation, loan closing, and loan booking.
- Responsible for complying with the various rules, regulations, policies, and ethical standards governing the financial services industry including compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Manage ongoing customer service issues and requests. Follow up to ensure task completion and customer satisfaction.
- Safeguard the quality of the Bank’s loan portfolio by frequently managing the level of exceptions and delinquencies. Assist with compiling portfolio reports for management. Monitor loan review process for each loan for compliance with financial reporting and covenants.
- Monitor borrowing base certificates for monitored lines of credit and track trends.
- Verify ongoing or post-closing loan conditions have been satisfied.
- Prepare and present summary facts and opinions concerning creditworthiness to lenders and/or committees.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects of a similar level of complexity as assigned.
- Identify credit and non-credit sales opportunities for the Bank.
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years of experience within a financial organization
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting (or equivalent training).
- The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.
- Skilled at credit underwriting, risk management, and exercising judgement. Working knowledge of accounting, financial statements, and banking.
- Proficient with spreadsheets and word processing applications.
- Must be extremely organized, accurate, and demonstrate the ability to carry out responsibilities with professionalism and respect for others.
- Strong people acumen, attention to detail, problem solving, results driven, and adaptable.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to deal with multiple tasks smoothly.
