Description
Shield Technology Partners is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll & Compliance Manager to oversee payroll operations and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations across multiple U.S. portfolio companies. This individual will manage the full-cycle payroll process, enforce strong internal controls, and serve as the subject matter expert on wage and hour compliance, tax reporting, and benefits-related payroll integration.In addition to managing day-to-day payroll operations, this role will support acquisition integrations by standardizing payroll processes, ensuring compliance alignment, and partnering with HR and Finance leadership to deliver a seamless employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Operations- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multi-entity organizations.
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and benefits.
- Maintain payroll records and reconcile payroll accounts with the general ledger.
- Oversee payroll system administration and ensure data integrity.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
- Manage payroll tax filings, reporting, and remittances.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update policies and processes accordingly.
- Maintain segregation of duties and enforce approval protocols.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws
- Partner with HR to migrate newly acquired entities into STP’s payroll systems.
- Standardize payroll and compliance processes across acquisitions.
- Assist with system implementations, data conversions, and employee training.
- Support external and internal audits with payroll documentation.
- Prepare compliance reports for leadership and regulators.
- Ensure accurate year-end reporting (W-2, 1099, etc.).
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance frameworks.
- Proficiency with payroll systems (UKG, ADP, Workday, or similar).
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and offshore teams.
- High integrity and discretion in handling sensitive employee data.
- Experience in MSP or IT services industry.
- Exposure to acquisition-driven environments
