Job Description:

UPS Healthcare is seeking a Field Industrial Engineer II to support and optimize operations within our Healthcare Logistics and Distribution division. This role is critical in developing and executing strategies to enhance the fulfillment and distribution of healthcare products through UPS Healthcare Distribution Centers.

As a subject matter expert (SME) in systemic and physical warehouse processes, the IE II will lead the analysis, design, and implementation of solutions to improve operational efficiency, reduce cost, and ensure the highest standards in service and quality. The role involves cross-functional collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and project execution in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

An effective Field IE II will regularly leverage technical and system knowledge when synthesizing large and complex datasets to deliver meaningful insights and performance narratives. The Field IE II must be a strong communicator, both written and verbal, with ability to effectively engage technical and non-technical audiences. Independence and self-motivation are critical qualities which contribute to the success of the engineer. The Field IE II may play a role in the training and mentorship for both co-ops and newly hired IEs within the dept.

The ideal candidate for this role is extremely resourceful and adaptable. The nature of the work will require continuous management of multiple priorities simultaneously. A successful IE II will be observant, inquisitive, and exploratory; they'll regularly utilize these characteristics in their daily approach, leading to identification of new ways to solve business problems. The IE Dept. has high standards for the quality and punctuality; we are seeking an Engineer who possess these values as well. Effective communication and collaboration are critical skills for the position and will be required throughout daily interactions. The position is best filled with an engineer who is genuinely passionate about standardization, process/space optimization, and continuous improvement. ​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Synthesize large and complex datasets to deliver meaningful insights and performance narratives.
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, engineering, IT, and customer support teams.
  • Support training and mentorship of co-ops and newly hired engineers.
  • Ensure high standards of quality, accuracy, and timeliness in all deliverables.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in engineering, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis, visualization, and reporting tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of warehouse management systems and process modeling.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across departments and present findings to varied audiences
  • Self-starter with a passion for continuous improvement and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare logistics or FDA-regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Project Management Experience

  • Functional Financial Acumen

  • Experience With Autocad
