Position Summary:
Under general supervision, the Fabricator III performs duties to set-up, adjust, and operate a wide variety of fabrication machines including CNC Equipment, press brake, and all other equipment as needed. Processes work orders using blueprints and routers of the designated parts. Also analyzes specifications and computes dimensions according to knowledge of product, subsequent processing, shop mathematics and layout procedures. The fabricator position fits and welds fabricated steel frames and/or metal parts for all product lines using mig & tig welding equipment, along with wire welding for most of the parts. In this position you will be working with weld fixtures, hoists, and/or a crane to move heavy items. You will perform critical welds on parts or subassemblies. You will verify the welds meet all quality standards. You may also direct activities of other employees.
- Essential Functions of the Job:
- 1. Follows all company and departmental safety rules including proper use of personal protective equipment
- 2. Performs all required quality checks to assure products conform to company standards including first piece part inspections
- 3. Maintains 5s standards of housekeeping in work area
- 4. Meets production requirements
- 5. Operates a limited variety of fabrication machines that may include CNC equipment, to cut and shape components to specified dimensions
- 6. Performs Back flushing to relive raw material inventory
- 7. Performs basic set-up and adjustment of machinery following standard procedures including proper adjustment of guards and safety devices
- 8. Lifts and positions parts into the machine manually or with a hoist
- 9. Operates overhead crane
- 10. Assists other employees in set up and operation of machines
- 11. Performs daily inspection and preventive maintenance on machinery
- 12. Assists in training coworkers in proper work procedures and safety as necessary
- 13. Performs other duties as assigned
- In addition to the duties encompassed by Fabricator III, the incumbent will perform the following:
- 14. Operates a wide variety of fabrication machines including CNC equipment, to cut and shape components to specified dimensions
- 15. Looks up raw material in inventory system
- 16. Performs advanced set-up and adjustment of machinery where standard procedures are not always available including proper adjustment of guards and safety devices
- 17. Instructs other employees in set up and operation of machines
- 18. Will be responsible for completing Repair Parts (RP) for parts department
- 19. Will be making specialized production parts at times
- 20. Will be making RC fabricated parts
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
- 1. Shop math required
- 2. Knowledge using various welding equipment
- 3. Utilize computer system to back flush material
- 4. Must be able to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments
- 5. Good communication skills preferred
- 6. Must be able to operate overhead crane
7. Must be able to operate a press brake and other various equipment
- Education and Experience:
- 1. High school diploma or GED certificate preferred or work experience in a related occupation
- 2. Knowledge of machine processes, maintenance and equipment operation essential
- 3. Minimum of 5 years’ welding experience
4. Experience operating various equipment such as a press brake, lathe, Millport, etc.
- Working Conditions:
- 1. Must be able to work overtime, including weekends
- 2. Must be physically capable of standing/working 8+ hour shift(s)
- 3. Must be able to lift, carry and/or move up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
- 4. Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled areas
- 5. Must be able to wear required safety equipment
