Description
This Sales Manager position will develop and lead all Associate Marketing Representatives enrolled in a 24-month sales and insurance training program. The focus will be on training, managing performance, and driving new business while fostering strong relationships with independent agents to achieve the overall sales goals of Johnson & Johnson and JJPF. This role requires a hands-on approach, including direct coaching, joint sales visits, and collaboration with agency owners to ensure success. The Sales Manager will be responsible for the direct management of all Associate Marketing Representatives working in conjunction with their respective J&J Regional Vice President of Sales and USLI Sales Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Sales training and coaching: Provide ongoing training to Associate Marketing Representatives on products, systems and sales techniques, ensuring they are equipped to succeed
- Performance management: Monitor and assess individual sales performance, offering guidance and feedback to improve results
- Collaboration: Partner with USLI Sales Manager and J&J Regional Vice President of Sales to align sales strategies, address performance concerns, and drive overall program success
- Field engagement: Conduct joint sales visits, role-play sales scenarios, and observe real world interactions to refine techniques
- Sales development: Teach Associate Marketing Representatives the steps to an effective sales meeting and how to handle common objections
- Presentation and training delivery: Develop and lead internal and external sales training sessions
Education And Work Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred or any combination of education and experience to be successful in the position.
- Requires 3 years of progressive Property and Casualty insurance experience, previous experience in insurance sales, leadership, or customer engagement preferred.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to work independently, self-starter, motivated by success
- Ability to travel a minimum of 2-3 days every other week or more as required
- Manage direct reports and show leadership, coaching, and counseling skills. Ability to set goals and develop short-term and long-term plans and budgets for all direct reports
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills; technical competencies in Microsoft Office Suite; demonstrated and proven presentation skills
- Strong negotiation skills, excellent time management skills, and a passion for sales. Strong relationship building skills; dedication to excellent customer service
- Professional attitude and approach, daily business-like appearance; Must be organized and efficient with good attention to detail; Able to work under pressure and handle difficult situations with thoughtfulness and maturity, Able to work a substantial number of hours and be flexible
- Thorough understanding of the current Property & Casualty insurance market
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervision of all Associate Marketing Representatives
- Ability to manage direct reports and show leadership, coaching and counseling skills. Ability to set goals and develop short-term and long-term plans and budgets for all direct reports and overall Sales Territory.

- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a company vehicle
Typical Physical Demands
- Requires ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, occasional stooping, and reaching. May require lifting up to 25 pounds. Requires a normal range of vision and hearing.
