Summary:

The Network Administrator is involved in the administration, configuration, implementation, modification, improvement, and day-to-day support of credit union network devices as well as troubleshooting/supporting end user systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Administers network infrastructure systems; assists IT Manager and/or VP of Information Technology with budget requirements, coordinating vendor engagement when necessary for system management, implementation and problem resolution.
  • Under general supervision, configures, maintains and implements network appliances including: routers, switches, firewalls and required supporting applications in accordance with standards.
  • Assists in the administration of network services including DHCP, DNS, IPAM, AAA.
  • Provides Tier II/III support for network services including branch connectivity, remote VPN access, LAN, WAN, firewall, virtual environment, data storage, and campus networks.
  • Provides off-hours support and maintenance, when necessary, of network infrastructure.
  • Under general direction, implements and maintains campus and remote switching environment; maintains private WAN, SDWAN, ADVPN and DMVPN connections, routing and connectivity; assist with maintaining circuits with service providers.
  • May assist in the deployment, troubleshooting and support of user endpoints as needed.
  • Assists with data and voice circuit vendors to resolve outages and implement new services as needed.
  • Travels to branch locations to install/maintain equipment or software.
  • Prepares technical documentation including deployment guides, troubleshooting guides, systems architecture documents, etc.
  • Administers the wireless network infrastructure including wireless coverage.
  • Provides telecommunications management, monitoring, maintenance and support of cloud and on-premise telephony solutions in use throughout the credit union.
  • As directed, deploy new systems/technologies under supervision of the Information Technology Manager or VP of Information Technology.
  • Other duties as assigned.

A minimum amount of downtime for any device, server, or PC is an essential standard of performance. Meet or exceed established KPIs as defined by the CIO, VP of Information Technology, and IT Manager.

Regulatory Requirements:  Your position has specific procedures that must be followed to comply with Privacy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and Bank Secrecy/Patriot Act. Education And/Or Experience:

A bachelor's degree in a computer sciences or related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions.  The position requires experience installing and maintaining network equipment including but not limited to: routers, switches, firewalls, security software/appliances, VPN access. Associate level understanding of basic network principles (e.g., TCP/IP, OSI model, routing protocols, etc.) is required. Telephony (voice and data) experience is preferred. Experience with the following products/vendors/solutions is highly preferred: Cisco (routers, switches, firewalls), Fortinet (Firewalls, SDWAN appliances, FortiExtenders), Fortinet ADVPN, Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine), Cisco DMVPN, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, RingCentral telephony environment. 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents produced by the data processing system, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  The ability to write routine reports and correspondence as well as speak effectively before groups of managers, employees, or directors of organization is required.

Mathematical Skills:

The aptitude to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume is required.

Reasoning Ability:

The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  The candidate must possess the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Cisco Certified Network Associate or higher (CCNA), Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP/NSE4 or greater) or an equivalent combination of education, experience, certification and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job requirements satisfactorily. If certification (CCNA, FCP, or an equivalent certification or higher) is not already held, it must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire. Certification(s) must then remain active.

Other Skills And Abilities:

A candidate must possess knowledge of all credit union departmental procedures and ability to adjust computer parameters to conform to policy changes.  A successful candidate is a self-starter with the ability and willingness to work alone and during irregular hours and days. 

This position requires proficiency in the use of Cisco CLI and Fortinet CLI.

A security certification such as CCNA - Security, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent is preferred.

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) is required. Annually complete and achieve passing scores on various SAFE FCU Policy, Procedure, Development and Enhancement Curriculum.
