Position Description

 

Coordinates, inspects, and monitors building maintenance, operations and service activities including grounds maintenance, housekeeping, paint shop operations, carpenter shop operations and/or security in a district or at an Austin area campus. Leads technical employees. Work requires contact with contractors and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Essential Duties:

  • Leads technical, administrative, or clerical support employees.
  • Assists in periodic inspections of buildings and grounds.
  • Coordinates, inspects, and/or monitors building operations and service activities including housekeeping, security, inside painting, carpentry and/or groundskeeping at one or more sites.
  • Enters work order information and tracks projects in the Automated Software System and orders materials and equipment.
  • Monitors building maintenance, condition of equipment and service contracts.
  • Performs evaluation and may assist in developing and implementing the preventive maintenance program.
  • Provides estimates of time and materials needed for each assignment.
  • Trains employees on building maintenance, operations, groundskeeping, painting, carpentry and/or security activities.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. 
 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.

Experience: 6 years in building inspection, maintenance, utility systems, electrical, carpentry, painting. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
