Job Duties
The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) is seeking a Platform Operations Manager to provide technical leadership for its Business Platform Solutions (BPS) team. The BPS portfolio of services includes Microsoft Power Platform, GitHub Enterprise, Box Content Management, Adobe Management Platform, and UiPath robotic process automation (RPA).

This position plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, compliance, and operational excellence of the BPS portfolio, which powers low-code development, automation, and collaboration across 60+ Executive Branch agencies.

The Platform Operations Manager is responsible for providing technical and operational leadership for all BPS-managed services. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Oversee daily operations and service delivery for enterprise platforms including Power Platform, GitHub, Box, Adobe, and UiPath RPA.
Serve as the technical escalation point for engineers and administrators supporting platform services.
Ensure systems remain secure, stable, and compliant with Commonwealth standards.
Lead development and maintenance of system security plans (SSPs), Architectural overview Documents (AODs), and configuration baselines.
Oversee the full lifecycle of platform solutions—design, testing, deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues, perform reviews, and implement best practices.
Mentor and guide technical staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, innovation, and accountability.
Research and recommend emerging technologies and automation capabilities that improve efficiency, reliability, and customer experience.
Collaborate with the Platform Service Owner to support customer engagement, community of practice activities, and agency enablement.
Develop templates, configuration standards, and technical playbooks to promote consistency across services.
Support incident response, change management, and capacity planning for BPS environments.

Minimum Qualifications
Considerable experience in administering enterprise cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure, or AWS.
Considerable expertise in managing enterprise cloud solutions like Power Platform, GitHub, Box, and Adobe.
Considerable technical leadership experience providing guidance and escalation support to engineering and/or development teams.
Considerable experience in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
Considerable knowledge of automation and integration technologies (e.g., Power Automate, UiPath, Azure Logic Apps, or ServiceNow).
Considerable experience in communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
Considerable experience with ITIL service management practices and/or DevOps or CI/CD methodologies.
Considerable experience in managing multiple priorities and leading cross-functional initiatives in a shared-service environment.
Entry-level experience developing and maintaining technical documentation and security artifacts, including system security plans (SSPs), architectural overview documents (AODs), and system configuration baselines.
Additional Considerations
Considerable experience leading teams through process improvement, change management and/or service modernization initiatives.
