Role Purpose:
Save the Children, in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and Action Against Hunger (ACF), is implementing an ECHO-funded Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) intervention to meet critical humanitarian needs of flood- and conflict-affected populations in South Sudan. The programme provides lifesaving cash assistance complementary to sectoral interventions and contributes to building resilience against future shocks.
The ECHO CASH Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, consolidating, and ensuring the effective and timely implementation of CVA activities under the ECHO Cash Consortium. The role ensures coherence across partners, effective communication, and adherence to agreed implementation strategies.
The post holder works closely with the Consortium Programme Manager and the Field Programme Manager, coordinating all aspects of field operations, including response mechanisms, cash distribution, monitoring, and partner collaboration. The Coordinator also ensures alignment with the Cash Working Group (CWG) and harmonisation with other actors implementing cash programming in Abyei.

The ECHO CASH Project Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth implementation of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) interventions in compliance with consortium standards, donor requirements, and Save the Children policies. The role supports emergency cash distributions, early recovery programming, and coordination across stakeholders to ensure quality delivery and community engagement.
The position requires close collaboration with internal teams (MEAL, Partnerships, Community Mobilisation, and Operations) and external stakeholders (consortium partners, technical working groups, government departments, INGOs, UN agencies, and WFP). The Coordinator also contributes to the consortium’s learning agenda and promotes accountability to affected populations.
1. Project Planning, Implementation, and Coordination (CVA / FSL)- Support the planning and implementation of ECHO MPCA activities, including assessments, surveys, and evaluations, ensuring findings are documented and responsive to the needs of children, adolescents, and youth.
- Contribute to the design of MPCA response strategies, concept notes, and new proposals in coordination with partners and technical teams.
- Support recruitment, induction, and performance management of project staff in Abyei, ensuring adequate capacity and adherence to SCI HR policies.
- Identify and coordinate project logistics and supply needs with the logistics department to ensure timely procurement and delivery.
- Support accurate budget forecasting, cash requests, and expenditure monitoring.
- Work with Finance to ensure appropriate, transparent, and accountable cash transfer mechanisms are in place.
- Collaborate with the Consortium Program Manager, FSL Advisor, and MEAL team to ensure the MEAL plan, feedback, and complaints mechanisms are effectively implemented.
- Coordinate and collaborate with partners and technical teams to promote integration across Child Protection, Education, WASH, Shelter, and Nutrition sectors.
- Ensure strong coordination across project and support teams (HR, Finance, Logistics, MEAL).
- Lead field-level project management to ensure timely delivery, within budget and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with Save the Children policies, consortium agreements, Sphere and Core Humanitarian Standards, and donor requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting and documentation from the field.
- Support the adoption of Cash Consortium for Disaster (CCD) and CWG strategies within implementation areas.
- Support the scale-up of new and ongoing response activities in coordination with relevant teams.
- Contribute to the update and implementation of Emergency Preparedness and Contingency Plans in collaboration with the Program Manager and Head of Programs.
- Support monitoring and analysis of humanitarian trends and early warning indicators across operational areas.
- Coordinate with government authorities, UN agencies, and partners to ensure harmonised response and avoid duplication.
- Share regular contextual updates with the Consortium Manager and the Head of Humanitarian Response.
- Identify learning and training needs among SCI and partner staff and support tailored capacity-building initiatives.
- Provide on-the-job coaching and mentoring to staff and partners implementing CVA and FSL projects.
- Facilitate trainings on CVA priorities, tools, and quality standards at the field level.
- Develop and maintain internal and external learning networks to capture and disseminate lessons learned and best practices.
- Ensure timely implementation of activities in line with project work plans and performance indicators.
- Maintain strong budget oversight, including monthly forecasts, variance analysis, and quarterly reviews.
- Contribute to high-quality internal and donor reporting with accurate data from the field.
- Support the rollout of market and vendor assessments and provide analysis to inform modality selection.
- Collaborate with the MEAL team to implement PDMs, evaluations, and beneficiary feedback mechanisms.
- Maintain updated beneficiary and output data for reporting and learning purposes.
- Document lessons learned, share best practices, and support adaptive management within the consortium.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Economics, or related fields (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
Experience And Skills
Essential
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in humanitarian programming within the Food Security, Livelihoods, or Cash and Voucher Assistance sectors.
Proven experience in implementing integrated FSL and CVA interventions in emergency and recovery contexts.
Strong understanding of project cycle management, including participatory planning, implementation, and results-based monitoring.
Demonstrated ability to manage teams, budgets, and multi-stakeholder coordination.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in culturally diverse environments.
Excellent report writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
Fluency in written and spoken English; proficiency in local languages is an asset.
Computer literacy (MS Office, data collection tools, etc.).
Desirable
- Experience in community-based microfinance, agribusiness, value chain development, and market systems programming.
- Experience working with consortia or multi-partner projects.
