Group Shared Services (GSS) has been identified as a key strategy to achieve this goal, ensuring consistent, high quality, customer-focussed shared services. Group Shared Services aims to integrate common functions across the council group, eliminating duplication and ensuring consistent, high-quality shared services.
We have an exciting Permanent Full-Time opportunity, for a proactive, analytical thinker to join the Operations & Technology Procurement team within Group Shared Services.
As a Procurement Specialist, you’ll support Category Leads in developing and executing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and identifying cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and negotiation. You will also be leading end-to-end procurement activities and projects. You’ll turn data into actionable insights to influence decision-making and help deliver best value-for-money outcomes that integrate sustainable and social procurement objectives.
This role is ideal for someone with a growth mindset who is adaptable, collaborative, and keen to contribute to a high-performing, influential procurement function. You’ll work closely with internal customers, co-located teams, and external suppliers to support a dynamic procurement environment.
This role will be based in our Albert Street office, Auckland CBD.

- You’ll bring experience in procurement, business analysis, or commercial roles within large, complex, and potentially politically sensitive organisations.
What We’Re Looking For:
- Strong critical mindset, with experience interpreting data to generate insights that inform commercial and procurement decisions.
- Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar analytical tools.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate insights and influence stakeholders effectively.
- Procurement experience is an advantage but not essential; attitude, adaptability, and potential are highly valued.
- Understanding of sustainable and social procurement objectives is desirable.
- Tertiary qualification in procurement, business, or related discipline preferred.
