The Legal Assistant will work directly with the Sr. Legal Advisor and will be ultimately responsible for emphasizing contractual management, with the expectation that the associate will be able to communicate effectively with contractual parties and organize all contractual documents. The Legal Assistant will also be expected to assist the Sr. Legal Advisor and Procurement department with other legal matters, including research, compliance, and dispute resolution.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Working with in-house and out-side legal team to draft and review legal documents
- Liaison between legal and outside parties
- Performing negotiations of contract terms and conditions, along with providing contractors with information of ArcelorMittal Texas HBI standards
- Analyzing legal documentation and red-lining any revisions that may cause issues or concerns
- Accurately maintaining legal documents and contracts by creating a physical filing and electronic database system
- Performing research on legal matters pertaining to ArcelorMittal Texas HBI
- Recommend and perform revisions to contracts that will be submitted for final reviews
- Researching and informing the Sr. Legal Advisor and the Procurement department of any new laws and regulations that may affect ArcelorMittal Texas HBI
- Preparing reports and letters for management
- Works with the Sr. Legal Advisor and Procurement department to develop key policies and procedures pertaining to contract administration and procurement
- Performs other duties assigned as needed
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Legal or Business related field preferred
- At least two years of relevant experience.
- Able to type at least 50 words per minute.
- Experience reviewing, negotiating, and managing contracts.
- Experience in a corporate legal department.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Excellent reading comprehension of technical materials and contracts.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Highly proficient in working on multiple ongoing projects.
- Highly adaptable and ability to learn quickly.
- Highly detail oriented.
- Highly proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, and PDF creation and editing.
- Knowledge of contract law
- Experience gathering information related to potential or ongoing disputes.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
