  • Job Title: Quality Control Inspector
  • Primary Supervisor: Plant 1 Quality Control Supervisor-Process Coordinator
  • Secondary Supervisor: Manufacturing Production Coordinator

  • FLSA Status: Hourly

Summary: The general function will be to maintain the quality of all manufactured products from receiving through production, to final inspection and testing, and finally packaging, packing and marking requirements as specific.

Essential Duties

  1. Using purchases orders, product specifications instructions from the purchasing party, the Q.C. Inspector will assist the Quality Control Supervisor-Process Coordinator in inspection of incoming production supplies to Plant 1. Accept or reject incoming production shipments, and inform the purchasing party of their status. Mark accepted materials for production. Mark "rejected" on items unacceptable for production, and place in a designated location to insure they do not inadvertently enter the production process, and inform the purchasing party.
  2. Conduct first piece inspections on all machinery setups by comparing actual measurements to tolerances given in the shop work order, conduct in-process spot checks to insure production personnel are accurately performing hourly parts inspections according to the system, and maintain in-process records in accordance with the Q.C. manual.
  3. Using existing literature and blue prints, the Q.C. Inspector will assist in performing final inspection of all products manufactured using commercial standards from the woodshop, metal shop, paint lines, and sub-contracted work, and maintain records for each item inspected.
  4. Using existing specifications, the Q.C. Inspector will perform:
  • Visual inspections
  • Dimensional inspections
  • Final inspections
  • Delivery examinations
  • Performance testing
  1. Audit production departments to ensure that latest specifications and routing sheets are being utilized.
  2. Assist in performing all phases of first article testing.
  3. Assist in the audit of all defective items returned to KCARC for cause of defect, and analysis for possible improvement of product.
  4. Assist in the audit of the paint lines and finishing department for proper mixtures of material, hiding power, coverage, thickness, and dryness of product.
  5. Assist in the review of all routings and recommend changes to the Production Manager as necessary.
  6. Prepare reports on quality deficiencies found during audits and inspections.
  7. Assist in maintaining heat treatment charting program at Plant 1 in accordance with NHLA standards.
  8. All other duties deemed necessary.
  9. Maybe required to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and if required lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  10. Additional hours if needed are mandatory.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Valid Driver’s license with excellent driving record.
  2. Possess ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department, i.e. overtime.
  3. Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
  4. Ability to listen to what is said and act upon it appropriately.
  5. Ability to use tact and empathy in dealing with people of varied backgrounds.
  6. Ability to establish effective working relationships.
  7. Ability to work independently or in a team environment and plan and organize workload.
  8. Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office product. (computer literate)
  9. Accepts responsibility and demonstrates leadership.
  10. Is able to multitask effectively in a fast paced environment.
  11. Trustworthy- Able to keep business confidences as required.
  12. Open minded- Willing to embrace change.

Education And/Or Experience:

 Previous experience in a related quality/manufacturing position is preferred.
