About the Role
Blue Man Group, part of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead the technical and operational execution of the 2026 North American Touring production.The Production Manager oversees all technical departments and touring crew, ensuring each engagement runs safely, efficiently, and in line with Blue Man Group’s production standards. This individual will coordinate the movement of all show assets, supervise load-ins and loadouts, manage venue advances, and serve as a key liaison with venues, vendors, and CDSEG’s Technical Direction and Operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Production Oversight
- Lead all technical and operational aspects of the touring production, ensuring consistency and quality across all tour stops.- Oversee department heads (Audio, Lighting, Video, Carpentry, Props, and Wardrobe) and their crews, maintaining accountabilities for all technical elements.- Collaborate closely with the Production Stage Manager to ensure the safe and timely execution of performances.- Manage all load-ins, loadouts, and changeovers, coordinating with venues and local labor to meet production timelines.- Ensure all set, equipment, and instruments are properly maintained, repaired, and transported in accordance with safety and operational standards.- Manage technical department budgets and expenses, ensuring purchases, repairs, and consumables remain within approved limits and align with tour financial goals.- Partner with Technical Direction and Director of Operations (BMG/CDSEG) to vet venues, advance technical requirements, and manage/update the technical rider.- Assist with the preparation, packing, and shipping of all production equipment pre-tour and post-tour.
Crew Management & HR Support
- Supervise the touring crew, including scheduling, timekeeping, and performance oversight. Manage recruitment, onboarding, and evaluations in collaboration with the Company Manager and Talent Operations.- Support HR initiatives for the crew, including counseling, conflict resolution, and adherence to company policies.- Cultivate a professional, respectful, and positive work environment that fosters safety, teamwork, and excellence.
Operations & Logistics
- Coordinate the physical movement of the show, including trucking, freight, and local transportation logistics.- Work with the Company Manager and Technical Direction team to develop efficient load and transport schedules.- Advance venue logistics related to technical space allocation, power, rigging, and safety requirements.- Maintain accurate technical documentation, drawings, and updates for all venues and departments.- Assist with payroll verification, expense tracking, and operational reporting as needed.
Safety
- Champion and enforce all Blue Man Group and CDSEG health and safety standards. Ensure all crew members follow proper safety practices and are trained in emergency and hazard procedures.- Implement and monitor incident reporting, safety audits, and regular crew briefings.- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, local labor regulations, and venue-specific safety policies.
Communication & Collaboration
- Act as primary technical liaison between touring operations, CDSEG Technical Direction, and venue staff.- Maintain open communication with the Company Manager, Production Stage Manager, and department heads.- Provide regular updates to leadership regarding technical performance, logistics, and opportunities for improvement.- Troubleshoot issues in real time and provide creative, pragmatic solutions that maintain show integrity and safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in technical theatre, live entertainment production, or related field.- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in technical or production management for touring or large-scale live entertainment.- Comprehensive knowledge of theatrical production disciplines (lighting, audio, video, carpentry, rigging, automation, props, and wardrobe).- Proven success managing touring crews and coordinating logistics across multiple cities.- Strong project management, scheduling, and organizational skills.- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities under pressure.- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Vectorworks or AutoCAD, and production budgeting tools.- Ability to travel domestically for extended periods (Dec 2025–Jun 2026) and maintain eligibility for U.S. employment and travel.
