IT is at the core of Euroclear’s business, providing continuous development, assisting in delivering a cost efficient and high-quality service to its customers.
Euroclear is building a new EB Settlement capability on a distributed, cloud-native architecture, independent of any mainframe legacy systems. This initiative is being developed using Java-based microservices deployed on Red Hat OpenShift or Azure Kubernetes. The architecture emphasizes modularity, scalability, and resilience, aligning with Euroclear’s enterprise-wide adoption of modern design patterns. Engineers joining this effort will also contribute to the foundational layers of a new platform that supports critical settlement workflows, leveraging reusable components and integration standards established across GBS tribes.
Responsibilities And Duties
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collaborating within an Agile development team to migrate the legacy application to a new event-based, service-oriented architecture. This involves close coordination with the Solution Architect, Technical Lead, application architects, and other stakeholders.
- Leading the delivery of a coherent end-to-end IT solution that meets both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Ensuring the IT solution adheres to enterprise engineering and architecture standards.
- Promoting consistency in solution delivery across platforms and teams, for example by organizing walkthroughs with delivery teams.
- Ensuring the solution complies with established design and development guidelines and standards.
- Participating in hands-on development and mentoring team members in the use of new technologies.
Qualifications
Crucial Candidate Traits:
The successful candidate will have demonstrable solutions design and development skills and experience alongside validated strong systems development experience at all stages of the software delivery lifecycle.
Technical Skills:
- Strong systems development experience at all stages of systems development covering design, development, testing, live implementation and post implementation support.
- Strong hands-on Object-Oriented Design skills
- Strong core Java programming skills
- Experience of developing services/micro-services in Java
- Experience of developing containerised services using Docker and Kubernetes
- Hands-on SpringBoot skills
- Experience of developing and deploying on Unix or Linux
- Hands-on experience of using the Kafka ecosystem
- Experience of profiling and performance tuning
- Experience of Behaviour-Driven and Test-Driven development principles and skills
- Experience of Angular for building responsive and modular web applications
- Knowledge of secure coding practices, authentication/authorization (OAuth2, JWT), and data protection techniques.
Soft Skills:
- Have the ability to motivate those you mentor, coach & lead
- Be a stand-out colleague and role model, willing to participate in peer reviews and to be reviewed by peers
- Be reliable, self-motivated and able to work without close management and supervision
- Possess inspiring communication and presentation skills to present proposals both orally and in writing
- Have the demonstrable ability to complete work within agreed timescales and identify problems and provide the most suitable solution(s)
Desirable Skills:
The following are not essential but would be a plus if the candidate can demonstrate any experience of:
- Messaging Standards, for example ISO 15022, ISO 20022 and JSON.
- Working in an Agile development team
- Designing and implementing platform independent, database independent event driven applications
- Database design skills in technologies such as Oracle
- Hibernate
- Splunk
- DevOps principles, processes and tooling
- IBM MQ
- Working in Financial Market Infrastructure and/or Regulated environments
