Senior Data Analyst - Office Shared team

The Office organization is transforming how Microsoft 365 Copilot delivers value across our productivity applications. We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to help drive our target setting, tracking, and reporting process for Valuable Copilot Interactions (VCI) metrics across Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other Office apps. As a Senior Data Analyst in the Office Shared team, you will play a critical role in driving data-informed decision-making relating to the Office and M365 Copilot business. This role focuses on driving insightsreporting, forecasting, and experimentation impact analysis to support growth initiatives and ensure impactful and measurable outcomes for Copilot features across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and connected endpoints.

Responsibilities

  • You will proactively anticipate business questions and develop data frames and analytical solutions to report activation, engagement and retention at the constituent feature level across key Copilot features in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote. 
  • You’ll apply a customer-oriented focus and build trust with customers, stakeholders and partner teams by leveraging knowledge of Microsoft products. 
  • You will apply expertise to data sources and determine optimal methods for integrating data. You will work with Office app Product managers and product leaders to create data-informed forecasts of expected impact from Copilot feature initiatives over time. 
  • You will share insights and analytical expertise to tell stories of analysis through dashboards, reports, internal forums, and more. You’ll partner cross-functionally to advise on experimental design and determine and recommend innovative methods for sharing and operationalizing insights. 
  • You will partner with Techcnical Program Managers (PMs) and Product PMs to generate and communicate experimentation impact assessments. You will support Office Product Group (OPG)-wide Copilot experimentation exit reviews, helping teams understand the impact of their features on VCIs and OPG business outcomes. 
  • You’ll leverage working relationships across teams to ensure alignment and drive the adoption of recommended data sources and analysis practices. You’ll maintain proficiency in privacy requirements and identify and address impact of updated guidance on work activities and results.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1year of experience operationalizing measures of user engagement analytics, forecasting, user retention or product satisfaction with high-scale productivity applications.
  • 1+ year of experience with large-scale telemetrystatistical modelingor data visualization tools such as Power BI, Kusto, Python/R.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:


Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 8+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year of proven experience interpreting results from A/B experiments, synthesizing findings into clear insights and actionable recommendations for product decisions.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 8+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR equivalent experience.
Data Analytics IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.  Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
