Job Description

Business Unit:

  • LGT Wealth Management is a UK-based firm providing a range of financial services to high-net-worth clients, with a particular focus on discretionary portfolio management. We manage over £30bn in assets under management (AUM) and operate multiple offices across the UK. As part of the family-owned LGT Group, we benefit from the backing and stability of an established international banking group.
  • Responsibilities of the Portfolio Management Team span client account management, fund management, relationship support, contribution to investment research, and driving portfolio construction decisions. The Direct Portfolios Team is responsible for the management of unitised funds, reference portfolios, and client portfolios primarily composed of direct investments in equity and fixed income securities.

Brief Role Objective:

  • You will assist Portfolio Managers in all aspects of the investment process by assisting with portfolio construction, monitoring, data analysis and reporting, and producing presentation materials.
  • You will be expected to develop a detailed understanding of the securities (equities, corporate/government bonds, real assets, funds), asset classes, and markets in which we invest.
  • You will develop strong professional relationships across LGT Wealth Management to develop an understanding of the wider business and enable effective collaboration and information sharing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Portfolio Managers in constructing, maintaining, and monitoring client portfolios and funds, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
  • Assist with data analysis, performance measurement, and the generation of regular and ad-hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with preparing presentations and other relevant materials for internal and client meetings.
  • Support Investment Manager and Wealth Manager colleagues with investment related queries and operational requirements.
  • Engage proactively with asset class research teams to support new investment idea generation and evaluate security selection.
  • Attend meetings and presentations by companies and third-party managers.
  • Where appropriate qualifications are held, you may assist with instructing trades across client portfolios and funds.

Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • An inquisitive nature and enthusiasm for learning about a wide variety of subjects, with the ability to turn analysis into actionable ideas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; with the ability to build relationships across the team and wider business.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong organisation skills, effective time management, and ability to work to deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Initiative and confidence to contribute from the outset.
  • Willingness to complete relevant professional qualifications including IMC (Investment Management Certificate) and CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). Full sponsorship for exams, training and study leave will be provided.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Minimum of a 2:1 degree. Applications are also welcome from candidates with significant relevant work experience and transferable skills, even if you do not have a degree.
  • Demonstrated interest and understanding of global financial markets, with a particular focus on investing directly in equities and fixed income.
  • Some experience of working in the financial services environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using platforms such as Bloomberg and FactSet.
  • Familiarity with various AI tools.
