The Role

We’re looking for a market leading Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead our commercial team on the regeneration of Bacton Estate Phase 2. A flagship scheme based in the heart of North London. A minute's walk from the luxurious and quaint Hampstead Heath and only a mile from the famous Camden Market. Currently in preconstruction, this project will deliver 460 new homes once completed, along with communal areas, gym, and 24hr concierge. Starting on site on Summer 2027, this is a unique opportunity for someone to lead a landmark project right from the very beginning, taking it through Gateway 2 submission, appointing the team and managing it through the build process, to deliver another amazing development in London.

Working hand in hand with the Construction, Technical and Cost planning teams, you’ll be leading the process of procuring quality packages within budget.

You'll play a key part in the successful delivery of this scheme, leading and managing all commercial elements throughout the lifecycle of this project, in both preconstruction and delivery: You’ll be managing the procurement process , with key focus on the early packages - mechanical & electrical, landscaping, piling and sub/superstructures. You’ll be managing payments and raising purchase orders, appointing consultants, and getting into the thick of setting up the CVRs, reporting and setting up procedures alongside the Commercial Manager. You’ll enjoy building strong relationships with teammates, vendors and subcontractors alike and will be proficient in Excel and payment systems. You’ll need to have experience working on mid to high rise mixed use residential schemes for a developer or main contractor and be well versed in procuring major subcontractor packages, managing these throughout delivery and be able to manage a commercial team below you.

Ours is a high-performance culture. High performance in this role is having the commercial and relational acumen to drive the commercial function on this development, leading to a successful Gateway 2 submission and then delivering quality packages consistently and within budget once on site. You’ll be a seasoned negotiator, have good contract knowledge, strongly numerate and love getting into the detail, and will be analytical enough to handle cost estimations and risk assessments. You’ll be a self-motivated and hardworking type of leader who’s ready for a fresh new challenge.

This is a culture where you’ll be giving and getting feedback from day one, because we think it’s the fastest way to learn and to build trust. We want to be challenged by you, too – we hate unnecessary hierarchy and “my way or the highway” has no place here. So, if you’re interested in working on a new flagship scheme apply now!

What we do: We’ve worked in partnership for 31 years to create outstanding places in London. We’re growing, with our construction turnover doubling, and with a pipeline of new projects where we’re raring to get started and make a difference.

Why we’re here: We’re here to pursue better, differently.

Better: One of The Sunday Times’ “100 Best Small Companies to Work For” for over a decade, winner of multiple Pride In The Job and WhatHouse awards for our people and the quality of our homes, and proud to have the nation’s best site in our ranks (winning the highest possible marks across the Considerate Constructors Scheme’s five areas – the first site ever to do so in 22 years of the CCS).

Differently:  Our culture is unusual. Different means more transparent with information. More direct with feedback that helps us all grow. More rigorous about setting goals, then giving more freedom to go and achieve them. It’s definitely not for everyone. We don’t hire know-it-alls, we hire “learn-it-alls”.  As our CEO, Killian, says: “We work hard to find people who thrive on context and responsibility, rather than rules and procedures. We then work like owner managers, not a leader and a load of helpers.

Benefits:

Private medical insurance for you and your family through Vitality (including discounts on spa breaks, cinema tickets and your food shopping, free Starbucks, 50% off Virgin Active Membership and more).

Income Protection Insurance to help you cope financially if you’re unable to work due to illness or injury, Life Assurance equivalent to four times your salary, your annual leave & Bank Holidays, enhanced maternity and paternity leave and workplace nursery salary sacrifice, allowing you to save tax and NI on monthly nursery fees.

We think the best benefit of being here is the learning culture and the ability to make a real difference – we dislike hierarchy and politics, and “not my job” isn’t in our vernacular. Which means if you really care about raising the bar and really want to feel connected to the end product, as opposed to like a cog in a big machine, this could be the place for you to grow your career.
