As Senior Firmware / Software QA Engineer you will drive the testing, qualification and validation of our video products. This will include collaboration with the webcam engineering team. You will also monitor market trends, conduct competition analysis and inform our innovation roadmap. Your technical background and experience allow you to provide clear and structured feedback to your team members in engineering, product/marketing and UX to support product excellence. You are passionate about products and delivering amazing experiences to enhance the life of millions of people as they create and interact everyday with digital content.

- Conduct validation testing on webcam and video products to ensure compliance with quality standards and functionality requirements
- Learn, implement, and document validation plans, ensuring thorough coverage of technical specifications
- Operate lab equipment and utilize test benches to assess and verify product performance
- Identify, document, and track software and firmware bugs, actively collaborating with relevant teams for resolution
- Communicate any events or issues impacting the project timeline or product quality to peers and stakeholders in a timely manner
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying areas for enhancement and proposing actionable solutions
- Perform competitor product analysis to benchmark features, performance, and image quality, informing development and positioning strategies
- Conduct both subjective and objective image quality testing, utilizing standardized methods and user feedback to evaluate overall visual performance
Key Qualifications:
For consideration, you must bring the following minimum skills and experiences to our team:
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in test execution for webcams, video products, or similar consumer electronics
- Track record of contributing to quality assurance within dedicated QA or quality departments
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS, and iPadOS environments—critical for webcam interoperability and validation
- Solid grasp of electronics and embedded firmware/software used in video capture devices
- Strong knowledge of USB protocols, with direct relevance to webcam connectivity and performance
- Familiarity with Python programming for automation and test scripting; considered a significant asset
- Solution-oriented, autonomous, and rigorous in approach to troubleshooting and defect analysis
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural, cross-functional teams
- Fluent in English, with the communication skills needed for global collaboration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience validating firmware and software for webcams, video capture devices, or imaging peripherals
- Experience conducting both subjective and objective image quality assessments using industry standards
- Familiarity with video compression standards and streaming protocols (such as H.264, MJPEG, USB Video Class [UVC])
- Proficiency in designing and running automated test scripts, ideally using Python or similar languages
- Practical knowledge of lab equipment commonly used in webcam testing (e.g., lightboxes, color charts, oscilloscopes)
- Experience benchmarking competitor products and analyzing market trends within the webcam or imaging space
- Understanding of camera sensor technologies, optics, or related hardware
- Ability to generate clear, detailed test reports and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Education:
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- ISTQB certification would be a plus
