Compensation includes a base salary of $87,200.00 - $130,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Analyst to join our team. This position is responsible for audit support related to sales/use tax and regulatory fees. Key duties include running reports, reconciling transaction data to sales and use tax returns, and investigating and analyzing audit workpapers. The analyst will also respond to internal and external inquiries regarding exemption certificates, perform sales tax research, and contribute to special projects.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Prepare audit report findings, outline discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions.
- Research assets and locate corresponding purchase invoices using Oracle.
- Maintain accurate tax records for audit purposes; reconcile tax returns to payments and general ledger entries.
- Gather and compile documentation requested during audits.
- Resolve tax-related issues for internal and external clients.
- Analyze data to support strategic initiatives and ensure tax compliance.
- Assist with special projects and support company initiatives.
- Manage exemption certificate requests for Cox and its affiliates.
- Conduct tax research using tools such as CCH and RIA.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess tax policy impacts.
- Collaborate with team members to proactively drive change, including identifying and implementing process improvements and value-added opportunities.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 4+ years of experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree in accounting and 2 years’ related experience, or 8 years’ experience without a degree.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external clients.
- Strong analytical, technical, written, and oral communication skills.
- Deadline-driven with a commitment to accuracy.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Proficient in processing and analyzing large datasets using Excel.
- Familiarity with software applications such as Oracle, CCH, SQL, and SharePoint.
- Ability to perform actions and make decisions with integrity and sound judgment.
Preferred:
- CPA/CMI preferred but not required.
- Telecommunication and/or Software as a Service experience is a strong plus.
